Sino – Indian Cooperation 2016

India and China was held second joint tactical exercise “Sino – Indian Cooperation on October 19, 2016 as a follow up to the first joint exercise under the provision of Border Defense Cooperation Agreement 2013.

About the exercise:

 In the Exercise, Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR) a fictitious situation of earthquake striking an Indian Border village was painted. Thereafter joint teams carried out rescue operations, evacuation and rendering of medical assistance.

First Joint Exercise of India and China:

This was held on February 2016 in the area of Border Personnel Meeting Hut at Chushul Garrison of Eastern Ladakh, along with Chinese troop of Moldon Garrison.

Reason for this Exercise:

To cooperate for maintaining peace and tranquility along the border areas of India and China.

Smart Railway Stations

Ministry of Railways and Ministry of Urban development signed MoU to redevelop the railway stations as Smart railway station for constructing Smart cities.

O the Initiative 10 cities are selected for Smart Railway station plan. They are Sarai Rohilla (Delhi), Bhubaneswwar, Lucknow, Varnasi, Jaipur, Kota, Thane, Margao (Goa), Tirupati and Puducherry.

INS Tihayu

The Indian Navy commissioned INS Tihayu on October 19 at the Eastern Naval Command.

About INS Tihayu:

It is highly manoeuvrable fast attack crafts. It would be based in Vishakapattinam under the Naval – In – Charge of Andhra Pradesh. It would be deployed in coastal patrol and surveillance operations along the Eastern Coast.

The INS Tihayu is named after the island in the Nicobar group, Tihayu (presently called as Katchal island).

10^th India and United States Trade Policy Forum

Trade policy Forum (TPF) was held at New Delhi on October 19 between India And United States. It is 10^th TPF which held between the two countries.

What is discussed in this TPF?

In this TPF, mainly the development and involvement of US in issues like goods and services, Agriculture, IPF, manufacturing sectors were discussed.

Note:

The previous year 9^th TPF was held in Washington D.C, USA on October 2015.

IOC Athlete’s Commission

Indian shuttle player Saina Nehwal has been appointed as the member of International Olympic Committee (IOC) Athlete’s commission.

About IOC Athlete’s Commission:

It is a consulting body which maintained by the International Olympic Committee to link active athletes and the IOC.

How is IOC elected its members?

12 members are elected to the Commission by Olympic athletes for a term of eight years. The election is being held by secrete ballots of the athletes who conquering at those games.
