NPL Scientisits produce electricity from water
National physical laboratory (NPL) have produced electricity from water at room temperature without using any power or chemicals.
How is it done?
The water is split into hydronium (H3O) and hydroxide (OH) ions by using nanoporous magnesium ferrite.
In this way, Silver and zinc is used as electrode to make a cell that produces electricity.

Mining survillence system
The Government has launched mining survillence system (MSS).
About MSS:
It is a satellite based monitoring system which detects the illegal mining activities through automatic remote sensing detection technology.
It is developed under the Digital India Programme.
It is first survillence system in the world which uses space technology.
It was developed by Ministry of Mines, through Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), has developed the MSS, in coordination with Bhaskaracharya Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics (BISAG), Gandhinagar and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY).

Saraswathi River existed
The government has released the committee’s report that confirmed River Saraswathi is existed.
About the Committee:
The committee is headed by eminent geologist Prof. K .S. Valdiya.
They did research on the palaeo channel of Northwest for six months and concluded this report.
What is Palaeo channel?
It is a path which abandoned by the river when it occurs to change course.
What the report has been said?
The report confirmed that river Saraswathi originated in Himalayas flowed through India and Pakistan before joined the Arabian sea through Rann of Kutch.
The river had two branches as western branch and eastern.
The Western branch was the one called past Sutlej which originated from Himalaya and passed through channels of present day Ghaggar patialiwali.
The eastern one was palaeo channels of Sarasuti- Markanda rivulets Haryana Known as Tons- Yamuna.

National Summit on Food Fortification
National summit on fortification of food is held on Delhi along with co-hosters of Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) in partnership with central ministries / department or development partners.
It held to debates the development which should be involved in fortification of food by ensuring the micro-nutrients measures in the food by experts.
What is food fortification?
It is the process of enriching the food with required micro nutrients for people.
Food Fortification regulation Act:
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has formulated a comprehensive regulation on fortification of foods namely ‘Food Safety and Standards (Fortification of Foods) Regulations, 2016’.
These regulations set the standards for food fortification and encourage the production, manufacture, distribution, sale and consumption of fortified foods.
The regulations also provide for specific role of FSSAI in promotion for food fortification and to make fortification mandatory.

India’s Nuclear Triad
India has completed its Nuclear triad by inducting first indigeneously built strategic nuclear submarine INS Arihant into service.
The INS Arihant is commissioned by Navy chief Admiral Sunil Lamba in August 2016. Now it is inducted into service with the affix of INS.
What is INS Arihant?
Indian Naval Ship (INS) Arihant is the leading naval ship of India.
It is capable of carrying nuclear tipped ballistic missiles.
It is designed with the help of Russia’s ATV project (Advanced Technology Vessel).
The Arihant class submarine is based on Akula class submarine design of Russia.
Key Facts:
India Became the Fourth country to have Nuclear triad.
The other countries which have its nuclear triad are Russia, United States, China.
