Indian harvest festivals

The different name of festivals are celebrated across the country to celebrate the Harvest season in India.

In Tamil Nadu, this festival celebrated over 4 days at harvest time in the name of Pongal.

The festival of Makar Sankranti is being celebrated when the Sun enters the Makar zodiac and the days begin to lengthen compared to nights.

In Assam and many parts of the North East, the festival of Magha Bihu is celebrated.

Gujarat celebrates it in the form of the kite festival of Uttarayan.

In Punjab, Makar Sankranti is celebrated as Maghi. Bathing in a river in the early hours on Maghi is important.

In Shimla District of Himachal Pradesh, Magha Saaji festival is celebrated to marks the start of the month of Magha.

Kicheri festval in Uttar Pradesh and involves ritual bathing.

Submarine INS Khandesi

It is second in series in the Serene – Class submarine INS Khandesi was launched in Mumbai, which is named Khandesi after Maratha forces fort.

These include anti-surface & anti-submarine warfare etc. They can also launch torpedo attacks both underwater and surface.

International Conference & Exhibition on “Re-enforced Plastics” started at BEC (Bombay Exhibition Center), Mumbai.

In order to bring the concentration of international industries on indian markets, this conference being organized.
