International Day of Tolerance
The International Day of Tolerance is globally observed on November 16.
This day is observed to educate the need of tolerance in the society and help them to understand the negative effects of intolerance.
About the day:
By passing resolution 51/95 in 1996, by United Nation General Assembly, the international mday for tolerance was started to observe.
On this day, 2016 UNESCO – Madanjeet singh prize for promotion of Tolerance and Non- violence was given to Russia’s Federal Research and Methodology Center for Tolerance Psychology and Education (Tolerance center)
About UNESCO – Madanjeet Singh Prize:
The UNESCO-Madanjeet Singh Prize for the Promotion of Tolerance and Non-Violence is a prize awarded every two years by UNESCO. It was inaugurated in 1996, following the 1995 United Nations Year for Tolerance and in connection with the 125th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi, funded by a donation from Madanjeet Singh.
The purpose of the prize is to honour and reward extraordinary creative achievements in promoting tolerance, as notable models for others in the field of peace-building.

Agreement between India and ADB
The Union Government and Asian Development Bank have signed a $ 500 million loan to build 9.8 km long road bridge across the Ganges River.
The bridge is aim to provide efficient transport connectivity between North and South Bihar and also will be better link between Patna, Bihar’s capital and the surrounding areas.
Key Facts:
The bridge will be built near Patna.
It will be the longest river bridge in India.
It serves as an alternative bridge route for existing Ganga Bridge which has worsened in condition.
The Bridge will be built by using state-of –the art engineering techniques. The height and length of the bridge will itself deal with climate related problems such as rise in water level.
It will be the first of its kind in India using this technique.
The Project is expected to be complete in December 2020.
The bridge will be more useful to the people of Raghopur Diara river island, Since they are using boats and seasonal pantoon bridge as their transport means to Patna currently.
About ADB:
Asian Development Bank is a regional development bank which started in 1996, December 19. It initiated to promote social and economic development in India.
Its headquarters is in Manila, Philippines.

Special Committee for Inter – Linking of Rivers
The Union Government has approved the constitution of ‘Special Committee of inter-linking of rivers’.
Background:
The Supreme Court in its judgement on 2012 had given go ahead for the controversial inter-linking river project, seeking to transfer water from surplus to water deficit areas in the country.
The court had also directed the Centre to constitute a ‘special committee’ forthwith for inter-linking of rivers for the benefit of the entire nation.
Benefits of Special Committee:
This will help in monitoring of the precious Inter-linking of River Projects to be carried out under National Perspective Plan 1980 of Government of India.
The Status-cum-Progress Report of Special Committee for Inter-linking of Rivers will be submitted bi-annually for information of Cabinet. This will facilitate faster and appropriate decisions in the interest of the country as expeditiously as possible.

Hunar haat
Hunaar haat ia an exhibition which was recently inaugurated at New Delhi.
The exhibition is aimed at promoting and supporting artisans from Minority communities and providing them domestic as well as international market for display and sell their products.
Key facts:
It is being organised for the first time at India International Trade Fair (2016).
Union minority affairs ministry has organized the market.
The special feature of this unique market is that besides providing free of cost stalls to artisans and craftsmen, the Union minority affairs ministry will also make arrangements for their transport and will help in their daily expenses so that these expert artisans can reach Delhi easily and display their arts and skills at an international platform.
Over 184 master artisans will showcase their traditional art at this special crafts bazaar.
