Women Empowerment & State Welfare Schemes

• ‘Vetri Magalir Thozhilmunaivor Membattu Thittam’:
  • Launched by the Industries Department to boost women’s economic participation and entrepreneurship across all 234 Assembly constituencies.
  • Provides institutional loans ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹5 crore through the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation (TIIC).
  • Offered at an interest rate of 9.95% per annum on a diminishing balance basis, with a repayment tenure of up to 9 years. MLAs in each constituency are requested to identify 10 promising women entrepreneurs.

Governance

• Rescinding of RTI Exemption for Public (Law & Order) Department:
  • The Tamil Nadu Government officially rescinded a Government Order (notified under Section 24(4) of the RTI Act) that had exempted the Public (Law and Order) Department from the purview of the Right to Information (RTI) Act, 2005.
  • Withdrawn following significant public and legal criticism regarding administrative transparency.
