Welfare Schemes & Policy Announcements

Annapoorani Super Six Scheme (LPG Cylinder Reimbursement):
- Benefit: Reimbursement of the cost of 3 domestic LPG cylinders per year for eligible homemakers.
- Eligibility: Families with an annual income not exceeding ₹2.5 lakh, middle and marginal farmers, and families of persons with disabilities.
- Implementation & Outlay: Money will be credited directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts starting on Pongal Day in 2027.
Vettri Payanam Scheme Expansion:
- Scope: Free bus travel for women (formerly Vidiyal Payanam) expanded to express, Limited Stop Service (LSS), deluxe, mofussil (inter-district) buses, and buses in hill areas without any income ceiling or restrictions.
- Launch: Takes effect on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2).

TN-ARIVU Curriculum & School Initiatives:
- TN-ARIVU (TN-Analytical thinking, Reasoning, Innovation, Venture and entrepreneurship, Upskilling): A new curriculum incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies to be introduced from the academic year 2027–28.
- PLAY Initiative: A daily period dedicated to sports, arts, and co-curricular activities introduced in government schools.
- Mathichudar Scheme: Competency-based assessment in Classes VI–XII.
- Vetripathai Scheme: Specialized coaching in secondary schools to prepare students for national-level entrance examinations.

Parandur Greenfield Airport Project Dropped:
- The State government announced dropping the proposed airport project at Parandur and identifying alternative sites to minimize impact on farmlands and human settlements.
