• Exotic Wildlife Registration Backlog:
  • Over 2,000 applications for registering exotic animals are pending before the Chief Wildlife Warden under the Living Animal Species (Reporting and Registration) Rules, 2024 (governing Schedule IV species under the Wild Life Protection Act).
  • Administrative Bottleneck: Delayed transition between PARIVESH 1.0 and PARIVESH 2.0 digital portals contributed to the backlog. The issue highlighted a critical lack of dedicated quarantine and holding facilities for confiscated exotic species in the State.

Defence & Recruitment Reforms

• CAPF Recruitment for Ex-Agniveers:
  • The armed forces will begin supplying nodal recruitment agencies with lists of retiring Agniveers eligible for direct recruitment into Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like BSF, CRPF, SSB, and Assam Rifles.
  • Quota Rules: Notifications set a 50% reservation quota for ex-Agniveers, granting them exemptions from written examinations and physical efficiency tests.
