The pay scale for Group 1 Exams is given in Level 22 (as per latest pay commission) and it is Rs.56100 – 177500. Generally, the salary in hand of a Group 1 trainee (Those who have cleared the exam just now and is in training) will be in the range of Rs.55000 (approximately).

Group 1 is the highest level of direct entry officer posts in Tamil Nadu. Those who are clearing Group 1 Deputy Collector will get conferred IAS (Indian Administrative Services) after nearly 8 years (approximately) and thereby will be promoted to the level of District Collector. Those who are clearing Group 1 Deputy Superintendent of Police will get conferred IPS (Indian Police Services) after nearly 10 to 12 years (approximately) and thereby will be promoted to the level of District Superintendent of Police.

Though Group 1 is a single exam, you will be able to choose Deputy Collector or DSP or any other post at the time of Counselling based on your Rank in the exam.
