National Events:

‘ Kartavya Path ‘:

  • The government has decided to rename the historic Rajpath and Central Vista lawns in the national capital Delhi as ‘ Kartavya Path ‘.
  • PM Modi will inaugurate the revamped Central Vista on 8 September 2022. The decision to rename the lawns is an attempt to shed names and symbols that are remnants of the British era. Rajpath was known as ‘ Kingsway ‘ during British Rule’.

 

PayU – BillDesk:

  • The Competition Commission of India has approved PayU’s $ 4.7 billion acquisition of online payments firm Billdesk.
  • The deal involves the merger of the two of the country’s largest players in payments gateway business.
  • The PayU – BillDesk deal is the second – largest buyout in the Indian internet sector after Walmart’s $ 16 billion acquisition of ecommerce major Flipkart in 2018.

 

National cooperation policy:

  • Centre has announced the constitution of a national level committee for drafting of the national cooperation policy.
  • The committee under the Chairmanship of former Union Minister , Suresh Prabhu consists of 47 members from all parts of the country.
  • The new policy is being formulated to realize the vision of Sahakar Se Samriddhi under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

 

Sanjay Kumar Verma:

  • Senior diplomat Sanjay Kumar Verma has been appointed as India’s next high commissioner to Canada. He is a 1988 batch officer of the Indian Foreign Service and is currently the ambassador of India to Japan.
  • He has also served as Consul General of India in Milan , Italy . Amit Kumar , currently Consulate General of India in Chicago , has been named the next ambassador to the Republic of Korea.

 

Intranasal Covid vaccine:

  • India’s first intranasal Covid vaccine by Bharat Biotech received DCGI approval on 6 Sept 2022 for primary immunization against the infection for people above the age of 18.
  • It is called ChAd36 – SARS – CoV – S COVID – 19 (Chimpanzee Adenovirus Vectored) recombinant nasal vaccine It has proven to be safe and immunogenic in subjects in controlled trials.

 

NITI-BMZ:

  • NITI Aayog and German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ ) held the inaugural NITI – BMZ Dialogue of Development Cooperation on 5 September 2022.
  • It was focused on five core areas of cooperation – Sustainable Development Goals , climate action , energy transition , emerging technologies and agro – ecology . Both sides highlighted the need to deepen engagement.

 

NALSA:

  • Chief Justice of India , Justice Uday Umesh Lalit inaugurated NALSA’s Centre for Citize Services at Jaisalmer house in New Delhi on 6 September 2022. It will provide free legal services to the weaker sections of the society.
  • NALSA or National Legal Services Authority of India was formed on 9 November 1995 under the authority of the Legal Services Authorities Act 1987.

 

PSLV’s:

  • A space consortium formed by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd ( HAL ) and Larsen & Toubro ( L & T ) was awarded a Rs 860 crore contract for the next five Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles ( PSLVs ).
  • ISRO has been providing satellite launch services since 1990 through the PSLV , launching 319 customer satellites from 33 countries. In September 2016 , a PSLV injected 104 satellites into orbit – a world record.

 

HDFC ERGO General Insurance:

  • HDFC ERGO General Insurance has roped in Google Cloud to build an online platform for selling insurance. HDFC ERGO plans to completely migrate to the cloud by 2024.
  • Google Cloud will assist the insurance provider with IT systems integration and Al / ML technologies to build predictive insights and mitigate insurance fraud. Headquarters : Mumbai.

 

” Punyakoti Dattu Yojana ‘’:

  • The Karnataka govt has appointed actor Kiccha Sudeep as the brand ambassador for its ” Punyakoti Dattu Yojana ‘. Aim of the scheme : to create awareness of cow adoption & set up goshalas across the state.
  • This scheme was launched in July 2022 & any individual or organization can adopt a cow by paying a total of Rs 11,000 for one year. It is a first – of – its – kind scheme launched in the country.

 

RO water:

  • As part of the Adarsh Gram Panchayat initiative , Bhartaul village in the Bareilly strict of Uttar Prades has become the first village in the state to have RO water in every household.
  • As many as four RO plants have been brought up in the village with the aim to make clean drinking water available to all. The move will save people from water – borne diseases.

 

Chhattisgarh:

  • Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has inaugurated three new districts in the state. He inaugurated Mohla – Manpur – Ambagarh Chowki , Sarangarh – Bilaigarh , and Khairagarh – Chhuikhadan- Gandai as the 29th , 30th , and 31st districts respectively.
  • While the Mohla – Manpur – Ambagarh Chowki district was inaugurated on 2 September , the other two were inaugurated on 5 September 2022.

 

PM-SHRI:

  • On the occasion of Teachers ‘ Day ( 5 September 2022 ) , PM Modi announced a new initiative – Pradhan Mantri Schools For Rising India ( PM – SHRI ) Yojana.
  • This will be a new centrally sponsored scheme for the upgradation and development of more than 14500 Schools across the country.
  • PM SHRI Schools will showcase all components of the National Education Policy 2020 and act as exemplar schools.

 

SCI:

  • Binesh Kumar Tyagi took over as Chairman and Managing Director ( CMD ) of the Shipping Corporation of India ( SCI ) on 5 September 2022.
  • Under the Ministry of Ports , Shipping and Waterways , SCI is the largest shipping company in India . SCI Founded : 2 October 1961. HQ : Mumbai.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Innovation girl program:

  • Innovation girl program introduced in Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme has also been started in Chengalpattu, Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur districts.
  • Ministers D.Mo.Anparasan and S.M.Nasar, who participated in the programs in their respective districts, distributed ATM cards to 2,095 female students in the first phase.
  • According to this, Rs.1,000 scholarship will be provided to 25 percent of the female students enrolled for higher education across Tamil Nadu.

 

International Events:

Maitree Super Thermal Power Project:

  • M Modi and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina jointly unveiled Unit – I of the Maitree Super Thermal Power Project on September 2022. The project is being constructed under India’s concessional financing scheme.
  • Seven agreements were exchanged following the talks. This includes an MoU between Prasar Bharati and Bangladesh Television on cooperation in the field of broadcasting.

 

Liz Truss:

  • UK Foreign Minister Liz Truss was elected as the next Prime Minister of Britain & leader of the governing Conservative Party on 5 September 2022.
  • With the win, she has become the third female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after Theresa May and Margaret Thatcher.

 

International Day of Charity : 5 September:

  • Every year on 5 September , people around the world observe the International Day of Charity to mark the death anniversary of Mother Teresa. She was awarded the Nobel Peace prize in 1979 for her efforts in the fight against poverty and suffering.
  • This day was first marked by the UN General Assembly in 2012. This day encourages all NGOs and volunteer groups to carry out charitable endeavours.

 

Sports Events:

68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race:

  • In Kerala , the 68th Nehru Trophy Boat Race was held at Punnamada lake in Alappuzha district on 4 September 2022.
  • 20 snake boats ( chundan valloms ) competed for the coveted trophy , which bears the signature of the first Prime Minister of India , Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Competitions are held in nine categories.
  • 24 shikara paddlers from Dal Lake in Srinagar also participated in the boat race.

 

Subroto Cup:

  • The Subroto Cup International Football Tournament kicked off on 6 September 2022. The 61st edition of the tournament will be staged across four venues in Delhi till 13 October 2022. The first match was played between NCC versus Chandigarh.
  • The Subroto Cup is an annual school’s football tournament inaugurated in 1960 by the first Indian Air Force chief , Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee.
