National Events:

INS Satpura:

  • INS Satpura visited Suva , Fiji from 1-3 September 2022 as part of its operational deployment in the Pacific Ocean. It is currently on one of the longest deployments by the Indian Navy in the 75th year of India’s Independence.
  • Built at Mazagaon Docks Ltd , Mumbai , and commissioned on 20 August 2011 , INS Satpura derives her name from the Satpura mountain range in central India.

 

Gastech Milan – 2022:

  • Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is leading a delegation to Milan , Italy from 5 September 2022 to attend the Gastech Milan – 2022.
  • The Minister will chair the ” India Spotlight : Powering India’s energy industry new avenues for a sustainable future ” panel discussion”.
  • He will also take part in ministerial panel discussion titled ” Energy Security and Transition “.

 

National Awards:

  • President Droupadi Murmu conferred the National Awards to 46 selected teachers on the occasion of Teachers ‘ Day in New Delhi on 5 September 2022. Each award carried a certificate of merit , a cash award of Rs 50,000 and a silver medal.
  • Some of the recipients of the awards are Anju Dahiya , Harpreet Singh , Arun Kumar , Seema Rani , Neeraj Saxena , Nishi Kumari , and more.

 

” Hyderabad Liberation Day “:

  • The Indian government has given approval to the annual commemoration of ” Hyderabad Liberation Day ” from 17th September 2022 to 17th September 2023.
  • The Ministry of Culture will host the opening ceremony for the year – long celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day on September 17 , 2022.
  • The event commemorates India’s annexation of Hyderabad in 1948 , following India’s partition.

 

” Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme “:

  • Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma launched ” Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme ” in August 2022. It was launched under National Livestock Mission at Byrnihat in Ri – Bhoi district.
  • Under Rural Backyard Piggery Scheme – phase 1 , the government has earmarked Rs 15.18 crore under which four high – yielding improved varieties will be distributed to 6000 families.

 

SBI’s Research Report:

  • SBI’s Research Report said that India would surpass Germany in 2027 and Japan by 2029 at the current rate of growth and become the world’s 3rd largest economy. Indian economy is currently the 5th largest economy in the world.
  • For Q1 FY 2022-23 , India registered GDP growth at 13.5 %. The report said , at this rate India is likely to be the fastest growing economy in the current fiscal.

 

PSB’s:

  • As part of the financial inclusion drive , public sector banks will open 300 branches in unbanked areas of various states by December 2022. New branches will cover villages with a population of more than 3,000.
  • 95 branches will be opened in Rajasthan followed by 54 in Madhya Pradesh. Banks were asked to open branches at allocated locations by the respective State Level Bankers ‘ Committee ( SLBC ).

 

Teachers ‘ Day : 5 September:

  • Every year , India celebrates Teachers ‘ Day on September 5. The day is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan , the first Vice – President & second President of India.
  • Dr Radhakrishnan was a renowned scholar , philosopher & recipient of the Bharat Ratna ( 1954 ) & he started his career as a teacher. On the other hand , World Teachers ‘ Day is observed on 5 October.

 

‘ Dark Sky Reserve ‘:

  • Bengaluru – based Indian Institute of Astrophysics ( IIA ) will establish a first – of – its – kind in India ‘ Dark Sky Reserve ‘ in Ladakh.
  • Under the project , a first – ever ‘ Night Sky Sanctuary ‘ will also be built in Hanle , Ladakh as part of the Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary.
  • The sanctuary will be one the highest – located sites in the world for optical , gamma ray and infrared telescopes.

 

National Games:

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 4 September 2022 launched the mascot and the anthem for the 36th National Games in Ahmedabad. The mascot means cub in Gujarati. While the theme of the anthem of the national games is ‘ Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’.
  • The mascot named as ‘ Savaj ‘ which The 36th edition of the National Games will be organised between September 29 to October 12 at six cities in Gujarat.

 

IAD:

  • Indian Space Research Organisation ( ISRO ) has successfully demonstrated a new technology with Inflatable Aerodynamic Decelerator ( IAD ) , developed by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.
  • IAD is a game – changer with multiple applications for future missions including to Mars & Venus. It was successfully tested in a ‘ Rohini ‘ sounding rocket from Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station , Kerala.

 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh:

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be on a five – day visit to Mongolia and Japan starting on 5 September 2022. This will be the first – ever visit by an Indian Defence Minister to Mongolia.
  • During the visit , Mr Singh will hold bilateral talks with his Mongolian counterpart Lt Gen. Saikhanbayar. In Japan , Mr Singh will attend the ‘ 2 + 2 Ministerial Level Dialogue ‘ in Tokyo.

 

HDFC Bank:

  • HDFC Bank introduced a new SMS banking facility for its customers .Customers can now access a wide range of banking services round – the – clock 24/7 x 365 no matter where they are.

 

Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank:

  • Krishnan Sankarasubramaniam has taken over as Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
  • Sankarasubramaniam succeeds KV Rama Moorthy and his term would be for a period of 3 years.
  • Prior to taking up the new role , Sankarasubramaniam was serving Punjab and Sind Bank as its Managing Director & CEO. Tamilnadu Mercantile Bank Headquarters : Thoothukudi , Tamil Nadu.

 

International Events:

Geomagnetic storm:

  • Earth was hit by a strong geomagnetic storm on 4 September 2022.A G2 – class geomagnetic storm was created when a stream of charged particles also known as solar wind , flowing from a hole in the Sun , hit Earth on 4 September.
  • It was when the auroras appeared in different parts of the world . The storm lasted over 24 hours.
