National Events:

Power Foundation of India & VIBHA:

Power Foundation of India in association with Vijnana Bharati ( VIBHA ) organised a campaign to create awareness on Agni Tattva under LIFE – Lifestyle for environment mission.
This campaign aims to create awareness of the core concept of Agni Tattva , an element that is synonymous with energy.
The first conference was organised in Leh on 7th Oct 2022 , on the theme of ‘ Sustainability & Culture ‘.

Raising Day of Territorial Army : 9th October:

The 73rd Raising Day of the Territorial Army ( TA ) was celebrated on 9th Oct 2022. It consists of volunteers who receive limited military training for their services in the event of a national emergency. It has participated in all wars since India’s independence.
TA was inaugurated by the first Indian Governor – General , C Rajagopalachari on 9th Oct 1949. Director General : Mohindera Singh.

SBI General Insurance:

SBI General Insurance Company has announced the appointment of Kishore Kumar Poludasu as its new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer. He has been appointed with effect from 4th October 2022.
Prior to this , he was the Deputy Managing Director , as the Country Head of State Bank of India , Singapore Operations. SBI General Insurance Founded : 2009.HQ : Mumbai.

81st annual session of the Indian roads Congress:

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari along with Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on 8th Oct 2022 jointly inaugurated the 81st annual session of the Indian roads Congress in Lucknow. Road Congress will discuss modern techniques in road construction.
On the occasion , Mr Gadkari also made the announcement that road projects worth eight thousand crore rupees have been approved for Uttar Pradesh.

Water Sports Centre:

Union Minister Anurag Thakur on 9th Oct 2022 inaugurated a Water Sports Center in Bilaspur , Himachal Pradesh. It will be dedicated to training athletes in water sports like Rowing , Canoeing and Kayaking.
The Water Sports Centre , the very first of its kind in Himachal Pradesh , has been jointly initiated by the Sports Authority of India ( SAI ) and the National Thermal Power Corporation ( NTPC ).

State-of-the-art ventilators:

Australia’s Airphysio has launched state-of-the-art ventilators for Indian customers in Chennai.
Airphysio has tied up with MedSmart, an Indian medical equipment distribution company, for this purpose.

Tamil Nadu Events:

Kavignar Subbu Arumugam:

Kavignar Subbu Arumugam , who popularised villupaattu , a folk art of southern districts , across Tamil Nadu passed away. He was conferred with Padma Shri in 2021.
He had published 15 books containing Villu Pattu narratives , songs , short stories and novels such as Veera Pandia Kattabomman. He was also awarded with Awards Bunkamura Les Deux Magots Literature Award.

International Events:

World Post Day : 9th October:

World Post Day is celebrated on the 9th Oct every year to highlight the importance of postal services in the everyday lives of people.
Oct 9 was chosen as the day as this was the date in 1874 when the Union Postal Service ( UPU ) was started in Switzerland.
World Post Day was established by the UPU Congress held in Tokyo , Japan in 1969. 2022 Theme : ‘ Post for Planet’.

Sports Events:

IBSF World Billiards Championship:

India’s leading cueist , Pankaj Advani claimed his 25th gold medal by winning the 2022 IBSF World Billiards Championship in Kuala Lumpur on 8th Oct 2022.
Advani last won a world title over 12 months ago in Qatar where he won the IBSF 6 – Red Snooker World Cup.
