National Events:

Sujoy Lal Thaosen:

  • Senior IPS officer Sujoy Lal Thaosen on 3rd Oct 2022 took charge as 37th Director General ( DG ) of Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF ).
  • He will have a term till Nov 2023. Earlier , Thaosen was holding charge of DG of Sashastra Seema Bal ( SSB ) as well as the additional charge of Indo – Tibetan Border Police ( ITBP ) chief.
  • IPS officer Anish Dayal Singh has been appointed as the new DG of ITBP.

 

India’s economic growth:

  • India’s economic growth is expected to decline to 5.7 % in 2022 from 8.2 % in 2021 , according to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development ( UNCTAD ) Report 2022.
  • India’s GDP will further decelerate to 4.7 % growth in 2023 , as per this report. The report has cited higher financing costs & weaker public expenditures for this decline in growth. UNCTAD HQ : Geneva , Switzerland.

 

Ajay Bhadoo:

  • Senior bureaucrat Ajay Bhadoo has been appointed as the Deputy Election Commissioner of the Election Commission of India.
  • Bhadoo , an IAS officer of Gujarat cadre , has been appointed to the post up to July 24 , 2024.
  • Also , Akash Tripathi , IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre , has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO ) , My Gov , Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology.

 

’Vande Mataram’:

  • Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on 2nd Oct 2022 launched the ‘ Vande Mataram ‘ initiative in the state.
  • The launch of the initiative commensurate with the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
  • The initiative will be binding on the government employees to say ‘ Vande Mataram ‘ instead of ‘ hello. Maharashtra CM : Eknath Shinde.

 

Dr Jitendra Singh:

  • Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on 3rd Oct 2022 launched the Web portal for Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2022 in New Delhi.
  • The objective of the scheme is to encourage constructive competition , innovation and institutionalisation of best practices.
  • The total number of Awards under the PM’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration – 2022 will be 16.

 

Interpol:

  • The Central Intelligence Agency (CBI) has launched an account on Twitter and Instagram on the occasion of the General Assembly meeting of Interpol, an international police agency.
  • The International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC) was established in 1923. It was renamed as Interpol in 1956.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Jal Jeevan:

  • According to the Jal Jeevan scheme, drinking water has been provided to 55 percent of the households in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu.
  • The Tamil Nadu government has received the first prize for carrying out these works on a large scale in the country.
  • The Jal jeevan Award was presented by President Drowpathi Murmu at a function held at, Delhi.

 

International Events:

World Habitat Day : 3 October:

  • World Habitat Day is a UN initiative that is observed on the first Monday of every October , annually.
  • In 2022 , it is being observed on the 3rd of October. The day is observed to acknowledge the state of our towns and cities , and the basic right of all to adequate shelter.
  • It was first celebrated in 1986 in Nairobi , Kenya. 2022 Theme : ” Mind the Gap. Leave No One and Place Behind “.

 

Armenia:

  • In a significant move to boost defence export , India has signed an export order for missiles , rockets , and ammunition to Armenia.
  • Under this deal , military equipment worth over 2,000 crores will be exported by India to Armenia.
  • It also includes six additional first – ever export of the indigenous Pinaka rocket launchers. Currently , Armenia is engaged in a border conflict with Azerbaijan.
