National Events:

‘ Ayush Utsav ‘:

  • Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on 28th October 2022 inaugurated the ‘ Ayush Utsav ‘ in Ganderbal , Kashmir.
  • It was launched with the inauguration of a seminar titled ‘ Bridging the Gaps in Healthcare : Ayush , a Promising Recourse ‘. It has been launched to enable traditional medicinal practices to supplement modern patient care.

 

Avian influenza:

  • The Union health ministry has deployed a high – level seven – member team to Kerala to investigate the avian influenza outbreak in the state. The outbreak of avian influenza has been confirmed among ducks in the Alappuzha district of Kerala.
  • From 28th October , all birds located within a km radius of the epicentre of the disease would be culled to check the spread of the disease.

 

Dr Rajesh Ranjan:

  • Dr Rajesh Ranjan , an IFS Officer of 2001 batch , has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Cote d’Ivoire.
  • Dr Ranjan is presently the High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Botswana. Côte d’Ivoire is a country on the southern coast of West Africa. Capital : Yamoussoukro. PM : Patrick Achi. Official language : French.

 

Grievance Appellate Committees:

  • Grievance Appellate Committees will be set up within 3 months by the government for resolving social media users ‘ grievances. Each committee will consist of a chairperson and two whole time members.
  • Any person aggrieved by a decision of the Grievance Officer may prefer an appeal to the committee within a period of thirty days from the date of receipt of communication from the Grievance Officer.

 

National Seminar:

  • Union Minister of Law & Justice , Kiren Rijiju inaugurated the national seminar on ‘ Environment and Sustainable Development – Role of Judiciary ‘ and Digitization of Indian Judiciary – Its Impact in Dispensation of Justice ‘ on 29 October 2022.
  • It was organised by the Gauhati High Court in collaboration with the government of Assam at Kaziranga.

 

C-295MW:

  • PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of a C – 295MW transport aircraft manufacturing project for the Indian Air Force ( IAF ) at Vadodara in Gujarat on October 30 , 2022.
  • This is the first project of its kind in which a military aircraft will be manufactured in India by a private company. It can be used for civilian purposes also. It aircraft will replace the ageing Avro aircraft of IAF.

 

SAIL & AAI:

  • The Steel Authority of India Limited , SAIL and the Airport Authority of India , AAI have signed an Operation and Management agreement to facilitate commercial operations from Rourkela in Odisha.
  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation has provided financial support for the up – gradation of this airport. The government of Odisha will provide the security , fire , and ambulance services.

 

Malabar Gold & Diamonds:

  • Retail jewellery major Malabar Gold & Diamonds has become the first jeweller in India to import 25kg gold under the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement ( CEPA ) between India & the UAE.
  • The gold has been imported through ICICI Bank. The CEPA between India and the UAE came into effect on May 1 , 2022. Besides UAE , India has signed CEPAS with South Korea and Japan.

 

‘ Saras Food Festival – 2022 ‘:

  • Union MoS for Rural Development Faggan Singh Kulaste on 28th October inaugurated the ‘ Saras Food Festival – 2022 ‘ in New Delhi. Organized by : Union Ministry of Rural Development from 28th Oct to 10th Nov 2022.
  • About 150 women entrepreneurs and members of self – help groups from 18 states are participating in this event. Saras Food Festival is a unique example of women’s empowerment.

 

Xiaomi:

  • Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has shut down its financial services business in India , four years after its launch.
  • The company’s Mi Pay app , which allowed users to make bill payments and money transfers , is no longer listed on the National Payments Corporation of India’s ( NPCI ) website. In India, Xiaomi has been subject to govt probes for allegedly dodging tax regulators.

 

Cyber intelligence unit:

  • Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced that a dedicated cyber intelligence unit will be set up in the state to curb cyber and financial crime.
  • It will be created using advanced technology. This single platform will ensure a speedy response to any cyber or financial crime.

 

Chenab White Water Rafting Festival:

  • To promote adventure tourism round the year in Doda district , district administration started Chenab White Water Rafting Festival under ‘ Back to Village Phase – 4 ‘.
  • The festival was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Doda Vishesh Paul Mahajan and SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom at Shibnote , J & K. More than 1,000 people attended the event and about 200 participated in the Rafting trip and ATB Ride.

 

International Events:

TPF:

  • The US – India Trade Policy Forum ( TPF ) has been postponed for early 2023. The Trade Policy Forum is a premier forum to resolve trade and investment issues between India and the US.
  • It has five focus groups: Agriculture , Investment , Innovation and Creativity ( intellectual property rights ) , Services , and Tariff and Non – Tariff Barriers. Last TPF was held in New Delhi.

 

NSDCI & Perdaman:

  • NSDC International ( NSDCI ) and Perdaman have partnered to create an interface between Indian skilled youth and market opportunities in Australia. NSDCI plays role in steering national and international partnerships for overseas employment.
  • Perdaman is a multinational group based in Western Australia with a long – standing track record in involvement within a diverse range of markets.

 

AISF:

  • Dr Srivari Chandrasekhar , Secretary , Department of Science and Technology , inaugurated the 1st ASEAN – India Start – up Festival ( AISF ) on 27th October 2022 in Bogor , Indonesia.
  • The 4 – day event is part of the over – all ASEAN – India Science , Technology and Innovation Cooperation program. It will strengthen the collaboration in science , technology & innovation between the ASEAN countries & India.

 

IAF & FASF:

  • Indian Air Force ( IAF ) and French Air and Space Force ( FASF ) are participating in a bilateral exercise named ‘ Garuda ‘ from 26th Oct to 12th Nov 2022 at Air Force Station Jodhpur.
  • This is the seventh edition of the ‘ Garuda ‘ air exercise jointly carried out by India and France. The first , third and fifth editions of this exercise were conducted in India in 2003 , 2006 and 2014 , respectively.

 

World Stroke Day : 29th October:

  • Every year World Stroke Day is observed on October 29th to emphasize the serious nature and high rates of stroke. It is also observed to raise awareness of the prevention & treatments of strokes.
  • It was started in 2006 by the World Stroke Organization ( WSO ). WSO declared stroke a public health emergency in 2010. The average incidence rate of stroke in India is 145 per one lakh population.

 

Nobel Prize:

  • The ambassador of Iran has been excluded from the 2022 Nobel Prize ceremony in Stockholm because of ” the serious & escalating situation ” in the country.
  • Earlier in Oct 2022 , the envoys of Russia & Belarus were also barred from attending the ceremony because of the war in Ukraine.
  • The Nobel Prizes are always handed out on December 10 , the anniversary of prize founder Alfred Nobel’s death in 1896.
