National Events:

Union Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Chouhan:

  • Union Minister Mr. Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Chouhan laid the foundation stone for five road projects worth 1,261 crore and 329 km long and police ground at Mandla.
  • They are inaugurating eight road projects spanning 214 km at a cost of Rs 4,054 crore at the Veterinary College grounds in Jabalpur.
  • Also these projects include 13 road projects worth Rs 5,315 crore in Madhya Pradesh launched on 7 November 2022.

 

‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’:

  • Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said that ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ will be celebrated in schools, vocational and higher education institutes across the country.
  • In 2021, the Central Government has declared Birsa Munda’s birthday on 15th November as ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ to celebrate the country among future generations. The objective is to learn about the sacrifices of tribal freedom fighters.

 

10% reservation:

  • On November 7, 2022, the Supreme Court ruled that 10 percent reservation would go to economically weaker sections.
  • On January 8, 2019, the Law Ministry announced that President Ram Nath Kovind gave his approval to the Constitution Amendment Bill on January 12, 2019 after it was approved by the Lok Sabha.
  • Following this, a case was filed in the Supreme Court against this new law in February. Now after several hearings, on November 7, 2022, the 10 percent reservation for economically weaker sections was passed with a 3-2 majority.

 

National Florence Nightingale Awards:

  • The President of India Shri Draupadi Murmu presented the National Florence Nightingale Awards for the year 2021 in recognition of the outstanding services rendered by nurses and nursing professionals to the society.
  • National Florence Nightingale Awards were introduced by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in 1973 and the ceremony was held on November 7, 2022 at Rashtrapati Bhavan and a total of 51 members received the award in 2021.

 

National Cancer Awareness Day:

  • National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated on 7th November in India and the day aims to focus on prevention and early detection of cancer.
  • In 2022, the global cancer community will celebrate World Cancer Day on February 4 with the slogan “Close the Care Gap”.

 

Kerala’s Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference:

  • The 15th iteration of Kerala’s Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference, which is taking place in Kochi, comes to an end.
  • Among those attending the farewell event are Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, State Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore, and State Transport Minister Antony Raju.

 

17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas:

  • Guyana President, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali will be the chief guest at the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention. It will be held from 8th to 10th January next year in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
  • The theme of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is Diaspora: Reliable Partners for India’s Progress in Amrit Kaal.
  • Member of Parliament of Australia, Zaneta Mascarenhas will be the guest of honour at the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas which will be held on 8th January next year.

 

 ‘Agenda for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions for Rural Development’:

  • Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Giriraj Singh unveiled the booklet ‘Agenda for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions for Rural Development’.
  • The ‘Agenda for Members of Panchayati Raj Institutions for Rural Development” booklet will provide information about all the schemes such as MGNREGA, Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojna- National Rural Livelihood Mission, PM Awas Yojna- Grameen, PM Gram Sadak Yojna, etc. will be available to the representative and the general public.

 

Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman:

  • The Uttarakhand government announced that this year’s Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman would be given to National Securtiy Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval, poet Prasoon Joshi, and three other individuals for their notable achievements.
  • On November 9, the recipients will be honoured with the Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman.

 

NMA:

  • Professor Kishor Kumar Basa has been appointed as the chairman of the National Monument Authority (NMA). The Department of Culture of the Government of India issued an official notification in this regard.
  • He will have a tenure of three years. Basa is the vice chancellor of Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanj Deo University in Baripada and also the chairman of the Indian National Confederation and Academy of Anthropologists (INCAA), which is the largest anthropological association in India.
  • He had been teaching archaeological anthropology and museum studies since 1980 and was the former head of the department of Anthropology at Utkal University.

 

Army Commanders’ Conference:

  • Army Commanders’ Conference begins in New Delhi from the 7th of November to brainstorm on current and emerging security and administrative aspects and chart the future course for the Indian Army.
  • It is an apex-level biannual event(occurs once in a 6 months) which is an institutional platform for conceptual level deliberations and culminating in making important policy decisions for the Indian Army.

 

World’s first Vedic clock:

  • Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, the city of Mahakal will soon boast the world’s first Vedic clock which will be synced with the position of the Sun.
  • After laying the foundation stone at the 300-year-old Jiwaji Observatory in Ujjain, the state higher education minister Mohan Yadav said through this project, people will become familiar with the Vedic time calculation.
  • The state government has allocated Rs 1.62 crore for this mega project as it is working to restore the ancient glory of Ujjain. The minister said the (Vikramaditya) Vedic clock will be divided into 24 muhurats (hours).

 

Rising Sun Water Fest 2022:

  • Rising Sun Water Fest 2022 culminated with a grand Closing Ceremony at Umiam Lake, Meghalaya. The Rising Sun Water Fest 2022 was a three-day watersport and it was held from 3th to 5th November 2022.
  • Rising Sun Water Fest 2022 was the first of its kind in the North East and aimed at encouraging the sports-loving youth of North East to take up water sports like Rowing and Sailing. It also aimed at promoting tourism in the North East.

 

TOFI:

  • The Haryana Forest Department and US Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the “Trees Outside Forests in India (TOFI)” program in the state. The “Trees Outside Forests in India” program will enhance carbon sequestration, support local communities, and strengthen the climate resilience of agriculture.
  • This initiative will bring farmers, companies, and other private institutions together to rapidly expand tree coverage outside of traditional forests in the state.

 

ISRO:

  • The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has turned its attention to Venus and is collaborating with Japan to examine the moon’s dark side, following trips to the moon and Mars.
  • ISRO‘s next mission at the Akash Tattva conference here was that the space agency also intended to send a probe to Mars.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin:

  • Chief Minister M. K. Stalin inaugurated 14 new sub-stations in Tamil Nadu at a cost of 373 crore 22 lakh rupees on November 7, 2022.
  • K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the construction of 8 new 110 KW sub-stations to be constructed at an estimated cost of 130 crore 18 lakh rupees.

 

International Events:

WTM:

  • One of the biggest international travel expos, the World Travel Market (WTM) 2022, will have India as a participant today in London. The Future of Travel Starts Now is the exhibition’s theme for this year.
  • The UMI-2023 will be introduced during the event, and Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and MOS Housing & Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore will present the Awards for Excellence in Urban Transport.
  • The aim of World Travel Market 2022 is to introduce the various tourism services and goods, such as Medical Value travel, opulent trains, and the range of tourism items, to the world’s business community.

 

Sports Events:

FIH:

  • Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) CEO, Mohammad Tayyab Ikram of Macau was elected as the new president of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), succeeding India’s Narinder Batra as its full-time chief.
  • Ikram defeated Marc Coudron of Belgium 79-47 in the 48th FIH Congress held virtually. Out of 129 national associations, 126 casted valid votes. The duration of Ikram’s term will be for two years, in order to complete the mandate of the previous chief, Batra, who resigned on July 18.
