National Events:

DoPPW & SBI:

  • The Centre’s Department of Pension & Pensioners ‘ Welfare (DoPPW) will collaborate with the State Bank of India It will create an integrated pension portal to enhance the ease of living of pensioners .
  • Four awareness programmes will be conducted in collaboration with the State Bank of India to cover the whole country .

 

AIIMS – Delhi:

  • Experts at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences ( AIIMS – Delhi ) have developed an anti – gravity body suit .It will allow astronauts to perform yoga in space .
  • It will help astronauts strengthen muscles and prevent loss of bone density minerals .This is India’s first bodysuit for astronauts and will increase their weight by more than 70 % in space to prevent them from floating .

 

PM’s award for outstanding contribution for the promotion of Yoga:

  • The PM’s award for outstanding contribution for the promotion of Yoga has been announced for 2021 . Bhikkhu Sanghasena and Marcus Vinicius Rojo Rodrigues have been chosen for the award .
  • Two organizations , The Divine Life Society from Uttarakhand and the British Wheel of Yoga from the UK have also been chosen for it . The award carries a trophy , certificate , and cash award of Rs 25 lakh .

 

840 Squadron:

  • In the Indian Coast Guard , a new air squadron was created in Chennai on 20 June 2022 by the name 840 Squadron , initially with an Advanced Light Helicopter Mark – III aircraft .
  • This is the first such aircraft to be positioned by the defence force in eastern region .It has beyond the visual range detection , using modern radars . It has been designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.

 

NIPUN:

  • Union Minister Hardeep Puri on 20 June 2022 launched an innovative project ‘ National Initiative for Promoting Upskilling of Nirman workers ‘ ( NIPUN ) in New Delhi .It is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs .
  • It aims to train over 1 lakh construction workers , through fresh skilling and upskilling programmes and provides them with work opportunities in foreign countries .

 

Projects worth 33000 crore rupees in Bengaluru:

  • PM Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several projects worth 33000 crore rupees in Bengaluru on 20 June 2022 .
  • He inaugurated the country’s third fully air conditioned railway terminal and laid the foundation stone for over 15000 crore rupees Bengaluru suburban railway project .
  • Five National Highways and seven railway projects were also launched by the Prime Minister .

 

India’s first 100 MLD capacity desalination plant:

  • Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel on 16 June 2022 inaugurated India’s first 100 MLD ( million litres per day ) capacity desalination plant at Dahej in Bharuch district .
  • The plant has been set up by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation with an investment of Rs 881 crore .
  • It can desalinate 100 million litres of water per day .It will only supply water to the industries in the area .

 

National Monuments Authority:

  • National Monuments Authority ( NMA ) on 21 June 2022 will organise an astrophysical analysis of the movement of the sun around the Qutub Minar .
  • The study will determine if Qutub Minar is tilted at a certain angle , does it have any astronomical significance , and whether there is a zero shadow of the Minaret at local noon on 21st June . National Monuments Authority Chairman – Tarun Vijay.

 

Metal 3D printer for aerospace:

  • IIT Jodhpur has indigenously developed a metal 3D printer for aerospace , defence and general engineering applications . The printer is based on Direct Energy Deposition technology .
  • All the components of this printer , except the laser & robot systems are designed & manufactured in India .The project’s main objective is to reduce the cost of metal 3D printers & attract a broader range of users.

 

Protean eGov Technologies Ltd and PayNearby:

  • Protean eGov Technologies Ltd and PayNearby have partnered to offer PAN – related services for PayNearby’s retail partners .It will facilitate quick & easy access to online PAN services in neighbourhood stores at affordable rates .
  • Protean accepts & processes PAN applications on behalf of the Income Tax Dept. Under the collaboration , PayNearby will work as the PAN Service Agency of Protean .

 

Kotak General Insurance & PhonePe:

  • Kotak General Insurance has partnered with PhonePe to offer motor insurance to its 380 million customers on the PhonePe platform .
  • Through this partnership Phone Pe customers would be able to buy car and two – wheeler insurance online in just a few clicks from the comfort of their smart phones .

 

‘Tan Sanjay’:

  • LIC has launched a new insurance scheme called ‘Tan Sanjay’. This is a non-stock life insurance plan. ‘ Tan Sanjay ‘is a non-profit, non-profit, personal life insurance scheme offering security and public savings.
  • Guaranteed income benefit will be paid under this scheme from the maturity date to the end of the policy term. The scheme has a loan facility of 5 to 15 years with a loan facility. LIC has said that the minimum sum assured of the new scheme will be Rs 3.30 lakh.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Military College of Telecommunication Engineering ( MCTE ) , Mhow & IIT Madras:

  • An Indian 5G test bed will be established at the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering ( MCTE ) , Mhow in collaboration with IIT Madras . An MoU to facilitate was signed between MCTE and IIT Madras in Chennai on 20 June 2022 .
  • The test bed will facilitate the Indian Army to utilize the 5G technology for its operational use , especially along its borders .

 

International Events:

Summer Solstice:

  • Summer Solstice was observed on 21 June 2022 .According to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration , the summer solstice or the June solstice is the green light to welcome the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere and winter season in the Southern Hemisphere .
  • It is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere or the day with the longest period of daylight .

 

World Music Day : 21 June:

  • World Music Day is observed on 21 June every year . The day was first celebrated as Fete de la Musique in France in the year 1982 .It was organized by the then French Minister of Art and Culture , Jack Lange and a French composer , Maurice Fleuret .
  • The theme for 2022 is ” Music on the intersections ” . In 1997 , a charter was signed in Budapest , which internationally recognized this day .

 

Global gold recycling in 2021:

  • India ranked 4th , behind China , Italy , and US , in global gold recycling in 2021 , according to a report by the World Gold Council . The report estimated that from 2013 to 2021 , India’s gold refining capacity increased by 1,500 tonnes , or 500 % , to 1,800 tonnes .
  • Over the past five years , 11 % of the country’s gold supply came from ‘ old gold ‘. The report was titled ‘ Gold refining and recycling ‘.

 

8th ‘ International Day of Yoga ‘ : 21 June 2022:

  • International Day of Yoga ( IDY ) is celebrated every year on June 21 to spread awareness about the significance and advantages of yoga .It was first recognised by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014 .
  • The theme for the year 2022 is ‘ Yoga for Humanity ‘. The main event of the 8th edition of the International Day of Yoga ( IDY ) 2022 will be celebrated at Mysuru Palace , Karnataka .

 

Qatar’s Hamad International Airport:

  • Qatar’s Hamad International Airport has been named the World’s Best Airport for the year 2022 . The announcement took place at the Skytrax 2022 World Airport Awards , held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris , France on 16 June 2022 .
  • The World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry , voted by customers in the annual global airport customer satisfaction survey .
