National Events:

NATO:

  • Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will attend the NATO summit on 28 June 2022 in Madrid . He will become Japan’s first leader to join a top meeting of The North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO ) .
  • South Korea’s new President Yoon Suk – yeol will also be the first leader from his country to attend . NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance between 30 member states . NATO founded – 1949.

 

Zomato and Jio – bp:

  • Zomato and Jio – bp have entered into an agreement to support Zomato’s commitment towards ” The Climate Group’s EV100 initiative of 100 per cent EV fleet by 2030″.
  • As per the agreement , Jio – bp will provide EV mobility services to Zomato and access to ‘ Jio – bp pulse ‘ battery swapping stations for last – mile delivery . Jio – bp is a fuels and mobility joint venture between Reliance Industries and bp .

 

An instant credit line service on WhatsApp:

  • CASHe , a Mumbai – based fintech platform , has launched an instant credit line service on WhatsApp .
  • The company will provide loans to customers within 30 seconds using its Al – driven chat capabilities on the instant messaging platform . CASHe is a mobile – only credit – led financial wellness platform that was founded in 2016 by V Raman Kumar .

 

‘ Agniveers ‘ will be awarded degrees by IGNOU:

  • The Ministry of Education announced on 15 June 2022 that it will launch a special three – year skill – based bachelor’s degree programme for serving defence personnel .
  • The Army , Navy and Air Force will sign an MoU with the Indira Gandhi National Open University ( IGNOU ) for the implementation of the scheme .
  • ‘ Agniveers ‘ who enrol in this programme will be awarded degrees by IGNOU .

 

RBI:

  • RBI on 16 June 2022 raised the Additional Factor of Authentication ( AFA ) limit from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 per transaction for e – mandates on cards , Prepaid Payment Instruments , and UPI for recurring transactions .
  • It implies additional authentication will not be needed for payment of Rs 15,000 per transaction . RBI Governor – Shaktikanta Das . RBI Headquarters – Mumbai , Maharashtra.

 

10 Percent reservation:

  • The Union Home and Defense Ministries have announced that Agni soldiers serving under the Agnipath scheme will be given 10 per cent reservation in the Union Ministries of Defense and Home Affairs.
  • Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has announced Agnipath to provide temporary service in the three forces. Young people between the ages of 17.5 and 21 can join the program.
  • Only 25 per cent of the persons recruited under the scheme will continue in service after 4 years. Others will be forced to retire.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Largest State in terms of the outstanding portfolio of microfinance loans:

  • Tamil Nadu has displaced West Bengal to emerge as the largest State in terms of the outstanding portfolio of microfinance loans ( MFL ) .
  • According to a report published by Microfinance Institutions Network ( MFIN ) , the gross loan portfolio ( GLP ) of Tamil Nadu as of March 31 , 2022 , stood at 36,806 crore . It was followed by Bihar ( 35,941 crore ) and West Bengal ( 34,016 crore ) .

 

International Events:

1st ‘ International Day for Countering Hate Speech ‘ : 18 June 2022:

  • The world observed the first ‘ International Day for Countering Hate Speech ‘ on 18 June 2022 . The day aims to highlight the need for combating hate speech and promoting tolerance and dialogue between different people and groups .
  • The theme for 2022 is ” Role of education to address the root causes of hate speech and advance inclusion , non – discrimination , and peace “.

 

Sustainable Gastronomy Day : 18 June:

  • Sustainable Gastronomy Day is observed every year on June 18 . The objective of this day is to recognise the practices associated with sustainable food consumption , especially with the art of collecting and preparing the food we eat .
  • Gastronomy refers to a style of cooking from a particular region . This day was first adopted by the United Nations in the year 2016 .
