National Events:

FIFS:

  • The Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports ( FIFS ) has announced the appointment of Joy Bhattacharjya as its director general . Bhattacharjya is the CEO of the Prime Volleyball League and is a cricket analyst .
  • The Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports ( FIFS ) , was established to protect consumer interest and create standardised best practices in the Fantasy Sports industry .

 

DSIIDC:

  • The Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation ( DSIIDC ) , which is the project’s implementing agency , had been constituted as part of an 11 – member steering group .
  • Just 5 % of the e – waste created in Delhi is adequately recycled , which accounts for over 2 lakh tonnes of the nation’s annual production of electronic garbage . Chief Minister of Delhi : Arvind Kejriwal.

 

Taranga Hill – Ambaji- Abu Road new rail line:

  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic · Affairs has approved the construction of the Taranga Hill – Ambaji- Abu Road new rail line to be constructed by the Ministry of Railways at an estimated cost of Rs 2798.16 crore .
  • The total length of the new rail line will be 116.65 km and is expected to be completed in 2026-27 .

 

LIC:

  • Life Insurance Corporation of India ( LIC ) reported an embedded value of ₹ 5,41,492 crore as of March 2022 , a little higher than 5,39,686 crore six months ago . A year ago this figure stood at ₹ 96,605 crore on March 31 , 2021 .
  • The Embedded Value ( EV ) is a measure of the consolidated value of shareholders ‘ interest in the life insurance business . LIC Chairman : M.R. Kumar. Headquarters : Mumbai.

 

IIT Ropar & Syngenta India:

  • Syngenta India has announced a launch of Biodiversity Sensor Project , a biodiversity monitoring technology in association with IIT Ropar .
  • Syngenta also flagged off India’s first Drone Yatra , that will travel 10,000 kms to create awareness on drone spraying among 10,000 farmers . The Yatra will travel to 13 states to demonstrate and educate farmers on use of drones .

NIRF Colleges Ranking 2022:

  • National Institute Ranking Framework , NIRF Colleges Ranking 2022 have been released online on July 15 , 2022 by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan . Miranda House outshined all colleges to get the top spot .
  • Hindu College was ranked second while Presidency College was ranked third . Lady Shri Ram College was ranked fifth .

 

STEMROBO Technologies & AIC IIT Delhi:

  • STEMROBO Technologies has announced the launch of a Tech Entrepreneurship Program in association with AIC IIT Delhi for 8-18 years of age group .
  • This program is focused on embedding skills like Robotics , 3D printing , the Internet of Things , Artificial Intelligence , Coding , and Blockchain . Students will participate in 64 hours of live online and live offline sessions .

 

Ambassador of India to Bhutan:

  • Sudhakar Dalela , an Indian Foreign Service ( IFS ) officer of the 1993 batch has been appointed as the Ambassador of India to Bhutan .He succeed Ruchira Kamboj who has been appointed as India’s next Permanent Representative to the UN .

 

e-NAM:

  • Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on 14 July 2022 launched the Platform of Platforms ( POP ) under the National Agriculture Market ( e – NAM ) .
  • It was launched on the sidelines of the State Agriculture and Horticulture Ministers ‘ Conference in Bengaluru , Karnataka . With the introduction of POP , farmers will be facilitated to sell the produce outside their state borders .

 

BIMSTEC:

  • A 2 – day meeting of the BIMSTEC Expert Group on Cyber Security Cooperation began in New Delhi on 14 July 2022 . It is being organized by the National Security Council Secretariat ( NSCS ) .
  • It is being chaired by National Cyber Security Coordinator Lt General Rajesh Pant . In the meeting , the expert group will formulate an action plan to deal with Cyber Security challenges in the BIMSTEC region .

 

Monkeypox:

  • The first case of monkeypox was confirmed in India on 14 July 2022 , after a person who had returned to Kerala from UAE developed symptoms of the disease .
  • His samples were sent to National Virology Institute in Pune which confirmed the disease by 14 July evening . Monkeypox is a viral zoonotic disease with symptoms similar to smallpox . It was first found in monkeys in 1958 .

 

Airtel & Google:

  • Airtel has allotted preferential shares amounting to over 5,224 crore to Google while the remaining $ 300 million will be invested through commercial agreements over the next five years .
  • Google now holds 1.2 % stake in India’s No. 2 telecom service provider . The investment follows Google’s $ 4.5 billion investment in Reliance Jio in July 2020 for India Digitization Fund .

 

RIL & AFI:

  • Reliance Industries Limited ( RIL ) and the Athletics Federation of India ( AFI ) have announced a long – term partnership to enable the holistic growth of athletics in India .
  • This partnership aims to discover , nurture and develop Indian athletes from across the country and provide them support by leveraging RIL’s ecosystem . It will have a special focus on girl athletes in the country .

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

IIT Madras:

  • IIT Madras has emerged as the best educational institution while Indian Institute of Science , Bengaluru is best university in India Rankings – 2022 which were released by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in New Delhi on 15 July 2022 .
  • IIM , Ahmedabad is the best management institute in the country followed by IIM , Bangalore , and IIM , Calcutta . AIIMS , New Delhi is the best medical college .

 

International Events:

Haifa Port:

  • Israel sold Haifa Port , a major trade hub on its Mediterranean coast , to winning bidders Adani Ports of India for $ 1.2 billion . Haifa Port said the new group will operate the port until 2054 .
  • Adani Ports , the largest transport utility in India , is targeting expansion and seeks to become the premier global port group . Adani Ports CEO : Karan Adani. Headquarters : Ahmedabad.

 

UAE & India:

  • The United Arab Emirates ( UAE ) will invest $ 2 bn to develop a series of integrated food parks across India . This decision was announced during the first virtual summit of the ‘ 12U2 ‘ ( India , Israel , US and UAE ) group , held on 14 July 2022 .
  • The investments from UAE will help maximise crop yields and , in turn , help tackle food insecurity in South Asia & Middle East .

 

World Youth Skills Day:

  • World Youth Skills Day is celebrated every year on July 15 .The sole purpose of this day is to provide essential skills to youngsters around the globe so that they can get employment . The theme for 2022 is ‘ Transforming youth skills for the future .
  • In December 2014 , the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring 15th July as World Youth Skills Day .

 

e-VBAB:

  • An MoU was signed between the Madagascar govt and Telecommunications Consultants India Limited ( TCIL ) on 12 July 2022 . It was signed for the participation of Madagascar in the e – VBAB( e – Vidya Bharati and e – Aarogya Bharati ) network project .
  • Under this agreement , various online degree or diploma courses will be offered to the citizens of Madagascar , free of cost through e – VBAB project .

 

Sports Events:

ICC:

  • Bangladesh fast bowler Shohidul Islam has been suspended for a period of ten months after he pled guilty to breaching Article 2.1 of the ICC Anti – Doping Code .

Jasprit Bumrah:

  • India pacer Jasprit Bumrah has regained the number one ranking in ICC ODI Bowler Rankings 2022 . Bumrah had lost the top spot to New Zealand’s Trent Boult in February 2020 after being No. 1 for two years .
