National Events:

The McMahon line : A century of discord:

  • A book titled ” The McMahon line : A century of discord ” , was released on 12 July 2022 .It has been authored by former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh and former Chief of Army Staff General JJ Singh ( Retd ) .
  • The book is based on the former Army chief’s experiences and research on the India – China border dispute . A short film related to the McMahon line was also screened .

 

Bajaj Healthcare:

  • For the first time the central government allowed a private company , Bajaj Healthcare , to process opium to extract alkaloids used to make pain – killers , cough syrups , and even cancer drugs .
  • The Central Bureau of Narcotics ( CBN ) , Gwalior , licenses farmers to cultivate opium poppy ; supervises and controls the cultivation ; and procures the opium produced by the licenced cultivators .

 

AB + blood group with EMM ‘ negative ‘ frequency:

  • A man in Gujarat , who passed away during the course of treatment , has been identified with a unique blood group .It is said to be the first in the country and 10th in the world .
  • It took a year for the researchers to come to the conclusion that the blood group was AB + blood group with EMM ‘ negative ‘ frequency . O , A , B and AB are the common blood groups found in human bodies .

 

‘ APSI Sushruta Film Festival ‘:

  • Burn and Plastic Surgery Department of AIIMS , Delhi in collaboration with Association of Plastic Surgeons of India ( APSI ) , will organize ‘ APSI Sushruta Film Festival ‘ ( ASFF 2022 ) .It will be organized to observe 12th National Plastic Surgery Day on 15 July 2022 .
  • This film festival is on the theme of Changing lives with Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery .

 

Coca – Cola India:

  • Raymond appointed Atul Singh , former head of Coca – Cola India , as Executive Vice Chairman . This is a significant step for creating a future ready organisation that has since inception been run by the founders – the Singhania family .
  • The textile , apparel , retail and real estate conglomerate is going to mark its centenary year in 2025 . Chairman & M D of Raymond : Gautam Hari Singhania.

 

GDP:

  • Nomura has sharply lowered India’s gross domestic product ( GDP ) growth forecast for 2023 to 4.7 % from 5.4 % estimated earlier on the back of the global economic slowdown , elevated inflation and rising interest rates .
  • However , it maintained its growth projection for 2022 at 7.2 % . As a result , Nomura now expects headline inflation in India to average 6.9 % in 2022 , and 5.9 % in 2023 .

 

Detect Technologies & Vedanta:

  • Vedanta has teamed up with Detect Technologies , an IIT Madras – incubated startup .It will implement safety incident detection by deploying T – Pulse HSSE Monitoring System , based on artificial intelligence ( AI ) , across all its business units .
  • T – Pulse offers centralised and scalable technology stack designed for plug – and – play deployment .

 

Quantum Mutual Fund ( MF ):

  • Quantum Mutual Fund ( MF ) has launched Quantum Nifty 50 ETF Fund of Fund . It is an open – ended fund of fund scheme investing in units of Quantum Nifty 50 ETF .
  • It is India’s first of its kind Nifty 50 ETF Fund of Fund ( FoF ) . The New Fund Offer ( NFO ) will open on July 18 , 2022 and close on August 1 , 2022 .

 

Department of Consumer Affairs:

  • The Department of Consumer Affairs has set up a committee to develop a comprehensive framework on the right to repair .The aim of the framework is to empower consumers and product buyers in the local market and harmonize trade .
  • Its aim is also to emphasize developing sustainable consumption of products and reduction in e – waste .

 

International Events:

Pope Francis:

  • Pope Francis has named three women , two nuns and a laywoman , to a previously all – male committee that advises him in selecting the world’s bishop’s .
  • The three women are sister Raffaella Petrini , currently the deputy governor of the Vatican City , French nun Yvonne Reungoat and laywoman Maria Lia Zervino , head of the association of women’s catholic organisations UMOFC .

 

Sports Events:

Sourav Ganguly:

  • BCCI President Sourav Ganguly as the former India captain was felicitated by the British Parliament on 13 July 2022 .
  • He was felicitated on the same date July 13 when he led India to Natwest final win in 2002 and exactly 20 years later on the same day he was honoured in the same city . He was elected as the President of BCCI in 2019 .
