National Events:

Astro Tourism – Sky Gazing:

  • Minister of State for Culture Arjun Ram Maghwal inaugurated the Astro Tourism – Sky Gazing event on 6th January 2023 at India Gate, Delhi by National Council of Science Museums in association with Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.
  • The astro tourism event showcases astro talks by expert astronomers, an exhibition on astronomy, storytelling related to celestial objects, a telescope experience to see lunar craters, astronomical activities, a photo group exhibition and astro-photography.

 

Avatar Group:

  • A list of cities where women can work safely has been published by Avatar Group. The survey conducted by Avatar Group collected data from 300 companies in 111 cities.
  • The organization has published a list of cities where women can work safely by integrating more than 200 data, including the Women’s Current Ease of Life Index, National Census, crime records, and the annual report of the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

GJC:

  • The All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC) its members have elected Saiyam Mehra as Chairman and Rajesh Rokde as Vice Chairman of the industry body for a period of two years (2023-24).
  • GJC represents over 6,00,000 industry players comprising manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, distributors, laboratories, gemologists, designers and allied services providers.
  • GJC is constantly creating newer and better platforms for the industry and his focus will be on connecting with the maximum number of people creating a synergy for development of the industry.

 

ISRO & Microsoft:

  • Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Microsoft signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to help Indian Space tech start-ups with technology tools, go-to-market support, and mentoring to help them scale and become business ready.
  • Through this MoU, the space tech startups identified by ISRO will be onboarded onto the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub.

 

GA-ASI & Bharat Forge Limited:

  • General Atomic Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) and Bharat Forge Limited, India have announced a partnership to manufacture main landing gear components, subassemblies, and assemblies of remotely piloted aircraft.
  • Bharat Forge is the largest repository of metallurgical know-how, design, engineering expertise, and manufacturing prowess in India.

 

Purple:

  • The eagerly anticipated Purple Fest, Celebrating Diversity, the state’s first-ever inclusive festival for people with disabilities (PwDs), will take place in Goa. Panjim will host the festival from January 6–8, 2023, with all the fanfare.
  • The three-day festival’s purpose is to demonstrate to everyone how to promote diversity in our society and how to help one another.

 

Cirium Aviation Analytics study:

  • The COVID-19 epidemic created a difficult operational environment last year, causing delays, interruptions, and resource issues at numerous airports and airlines around the globe. According to the most recent Cirium Aviation Analytics study, a number of airports worldwide thrived despite this environment.
  • Bangalore’s Kempegoda International Airport and Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport both ranked second and seventh in Cirium’s list of the world’s best-performing airports for 2022.
  • According to the data, while 84.08% of the 201,897 flights that departed on time from Bangalore’s Kempegoda International Airport and 81.84% of the 411,205 flights that departed on time from Delhi’s IGI Airport.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Octave 2023:

  • Octave 2023 is a festival being held under the aegis of the South Zone Culture Centre, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu to showcase the indigenous art and culture of Northeast India. Octave 2023 was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi.
  • The Governor of Tamil Nadu said that the perspective of the nation towards the Northeast has changed with the passage of time and the state have involved in the growth stories of India.
  • The Northeast is moving towards development and advancement and is bubbling with capacities and aspirations.

 

Easy learning system:

  • Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development Udhayanidhi Stalin on January 6 launched the easy learning system for students in Chennai Municipal Schools through Japan Eight (Digital) technology tools.
  • This scheme has been provided in 18 Chennai schools at an estimate of Rs.3 lakh per classroom and through this the teaching method of the teachers, the learning method of the students has been simplified and the students have been set up to face public examinations and competitive examinations easily.

 

International Events:

Voice of Global South Summit:

  • In a new and unique initiative, India will host a special virtual summit on January 12 and 13, 2023, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said on January 6, Voice of Global South Summit.
  • Under the theme ‘Unity of Voice, Unity of Purpose’, the ‘Voice of Global South Summit’ plans to bring together the countries of the Global South to share their perspectives and priorities on a common platform. More than 120 countries will participate in this conference.

 

‘Veer Guardian-2023’:

  • In order to enhance air defense cooperation between the countries, India and Japan will conduct joint air exercise ‘Veer Guardian-2023’ involving Indian Air Force and Japan Air Self Defense Force (JASDF) from 12th January 2023 to 26th January 2023 at Haiguri Air Base, Japan.
  • The Indian contingent participating in the exercise includes four Su-30 MKI, two C-17 & one IL-78 aircraft.

 

United kingdom:

  • 2022 was considered the hottest year on record for the United kingdom. According to a statement issued by the official of the country’s meteorological agency on 6 January 2023.
  • During the twelve months, the average temperature of the country has risen significantly. This is the highest since comparable records began in 1884.

 

Vaccine for bees:

  • For the first time in the world, a vaccine has been introduced to bees in the United States. Bees play a very important role in the pollination of plants, and now bees are more affected by foulbrood, a disease caused by bacteria.
  • The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has granted a conditional license to a vaccine developed by US-based biotech company Talon Animal Health to provide protection against the disease, and is the world’s first vaccine for bees.

 

Sports Events:

FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023:

  • The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has signed a partnership with the JSW Group for the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023.
  • The group supports and promotes Olympics in India and has created an Olympic Training Institute in the Inspire Institute of Sport across the country.
  • The 15th edition of FIH’s event for men will be played from 13 January to 29 January in Odisha, India.

 

ABB FIA Formula E World Championship:

  • The countdown of the first-ever ABB FIA Formula E World Championship race in India is to be held in Hyderabad. The Formula E World Championship will be held from 11th February.
