National Events:

Rajya Sabha:

  • On the final day of the winter session, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned sine die, with a productivity score of 102%. Jagdeep Dhankhar, the chairman of the Rajya Sabha, claims that in 13 sittings, functional time was 64 hours & 50 mins and productivity was 102 %.
  • 1,920 unstarred questions were answered in the 13 sittings, while 82 starred questions were resolved.

 

Inner Line Permit (IPL) System:

  • Manipur CM launched an upgraded Inner Line Permit (IPL) System Portal. The ILP system portal upgraded version has been launched for the convenience of visitors from outside for getting the Inner Line Permit.
  • The portal has been opened for Deputy Commissioners and Labour Commissioners of Manipur. Now, the Inner line permit can be issued by Deputy Commissioners and Labour Commissioners through online medium.

 

Average Monthly Income:

  • Punjab Ranked 2nd in Average Monthly Income Per Agricultural Household During the ongoing Rajya Sabha session, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar revealed this information.
  • According to the Information, Meghalaya (Rs.29,348) topped the country with the overage monthly income per agricultural household Punjab (Rs 26,701) is second followed by Haryana (Rs 22,841) , Arunachal Pradesh.

 

‘Humanise’:

  • Arunachal becomes first state to ‘humanise’ its prisons Arunachal Pradesh is the largest of the Seven Sister States of Northeast India by area. Chief minister: Pema Khandu. Population: 12.6 lakhs.
  • The main tribes of the state are Adi, Nyshi, Singpho, Galo, Tagin, Apatani.It shares international borders with Bhutan in the west, Myanmar in the east , and China in the north. Founded: 20 February 1987. Capital: Itanagar. Governor: B. D. Mishra.

 

IFC & HDFC:

  • International finance corporation approves $400 million loan to HDFC. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is an international financial institution that offers investment, advisory, and asset-management services.
  • The IFC is a member of the World Bank Group. It received the highest ratings from two independent credit rating agencies in 2018. Formation: 1956. Headquarters: Washington, D.C. Vice President & CEO: Makhtar Diop. Membership 185 countries.

 

Sahitya Akademi Awards:

  • The Sahitya Akademi announced the winners of Sahitya Akademi Awards 2022 in 24 Indian languages (including English) on 22 Dec 22.
  • Novelist Anuradha Roy, Tamil author M. Rajendran were among 23 litterateurs awarded the Sahitya Akademi Awards for 2022.
  • The winners include 7 books of poetry, 6 novel, 2 short stories, 3 dramas/plays, 2 literary criticism and 1 each under autobiographical essays.

 

Right to Repair portal:

  • Union Minister Piyush Goyal launched the Right to Repair portal in New Delhi on 24 December 2022. On the portal, manufacturers will share the manual of product details with customers so that they can either repair by self, by third parties.
  • In July 2022, the Department of Consumer Affairs had set up a committee headed by Nidhi Khare to develop a comprehensive framework on ‘Right to Repair’.

 

‘Veer Bal Diwas’:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a program marking the first ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi on 26th December 2022.
  • On the Prakash Purab, 2022 PM Narendra Modi announced that 26th December will be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ to mark the martyrdom of Sri Guru Gobind Singh’s sons Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh.

 

e-HRMS 2.0:

  • Union Minister of State Science & Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has launched a revamped Probity Portal, e – HRMS 2.0 Portal on 25 December 2022. He also launched an e-Books on major Initiatives/Achievements of the Ministry of Personnel, PG & Pensions.
  • The Revamped Probity Portal was launched for central government employees in 2017. It provided limited HR related services to the employees.

 

IMF:

  • The International Monetary Fund (IMF) reduced India’s growth prediction for FY23 from 7.4% forecasted in July to 6.8%. India’s growth projection for FY23 has undergone three decreases, starting from 9 % in January of this year.
  • According to the World Economic Outlook (WEO), which was published in Washington, India’s growth is predicted to further decelerate in FY 24, reaching 6.1 %.

 

International Events:

Spain:

  • Spain Passes New Transgender Law. The lower house of the Spain approved a measure allowing individuals over the age of 16 to change their legally recorded gender without the need for medical supervision.
  • It also abolishes a restriction on banned lesbian couples from registering their children under both parents ‘names and forbids the use of so-called conversion therapies to repress sexual orientation or gender identity.

 

Bidya Devi Bhandari:

  • President Bidya Devi Bhandari of Nepal appointed Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as the new prime minister of Nepal on 25 December 2022. He will become the prime minister for the third time.
  • He has formed a coalition government with the support of other parties.He will replace Sher Bahadur Deuba of the Nepali Congress party as the PM. The parliament of Nepal is called Sanghiya Sansad.
