National Events:

27th Conference of DGPs and Heads of CPOs of the North East:

  • The 27th Conference of DGPs and Heads of CPOs of the North East was organised at Agartala on November 22-23, 2022. It was organised jointly under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Tripura Police.
  • DGPs of the North Eastern States participated in the Conference. The Conference was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr.Manik Saha.

 

India’s total coal production:

  • India’s total coal production stands at 448 million tonnes as of October 2022. This is 18 percent higher than the production of the corresponding period of 2021.
  • The Ministry of Coal has plans to keep building the stock so that production at thermal power plants goes up to 45 million tonnes by the end of March 2023.

 

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari:

  • Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has approved projects for Telangana at the total cost of Rs.136.22 Crore. He said the project stretch connects major tourist places namely Laknavaram lake and Bogotha Waterfalls.
  • He has also approved projects across river Krishna in Nagarkurnool district in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh at the total cost of Rs.436.91 crore.

 

Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day: 24 November:

  • Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Martyrdom Day is observed on 24 November every year. The Guru was executed under the orders of the then – Mughal ruler Aurangzeb on November 24, 1675.
  • He was the ninth of the ten gurus of Sikhism and was followed by the tenth guru, Guru Gobind Singh (1666-1708).
  • He was born in Amritsar in 1621. He was also the youngest son of Guru Hargobind.

 

‘Samanvay 2022’:

  • Indian Air Force is conducting the Annual Joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) Exercise ‘Samanvay 2022’ from 28-30 November 2022 at Air Force Station Agra.
  • The exercise will comprise a seminar on Disaster Management, a ‘Multi Agency Exercise’ involving static and flying displays of various HADR assets and a ‘Table Top Exercise’.

 

RH200:

  • RH200, the versatile sounding rocket of ISRO, has registered its 200th consecutive successful launch from the shores of Thumba, Thiruvananthapuram. It was conducted by ISRO.
  • The Rohini Sounding Rocket (RSR) series have been the forerunners for ISRO’s heavier and more complex launch vehicles, with a continued usage for atmospheric and meteorological studies.

 

TPDD:

  • Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDD), supplying electricity to consumers of North Delhi, will hold a special ‘Lok Adalat’ on 27 November 2022.
  • It will be held for on-the-spot settlement of power theft and disconnection cases. The Lok Adalat will take up cases that are either pending in any court or are yet to be filed.

 

Agni-3:

  • India carried out a successful training launch of an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile, Agni – 3 from APJ Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha on November 23, 2022.
  • The successful test was part of routine user training launches carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command.
  • The launch was carried out for a predetermined range and validated all operational parameters of the system.

 

National Gopal Ratna Award:

  • Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying announced the National Gopal Ratna Awards 2022 on 23 November.
  • The Award is conferred in three categories: Best Dairy Farmer Rearing Cattle Breeds, Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT) and Best Dairy Cooperative or Dairy Producer Organization.
  • It is one of the highest National Awards in the field of livestock and dairy sector.

 

TNNAA:

  • The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports announced the ‘Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award’ (TNNAA) for the year 2021.
  • Naina Dhakad was awarded in Land Adventure, Shubham Dhananjay in Water Adventure and Group Captain Bhawani Singh Samyal was given Life Time Achievement award.
  • This award is given every year to recognize the achievements of persons in the fields of adventure.

 

MAARG:

  • The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) launched a call for startup applications for registration on the MAARG portal on 23 November 2022.
  • MAARG (Mentorship, Advisory, Assistance, Resilience, and Growth) portal is a one – stop platform to facilitate mentorship for startups across diverse sectors. Startup India is focused on catalyzing the startup culture in India.

 

COI:

  • Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has inaugurated the Entrepreneurship Cell and Centre of Innovation (COI) at the Delhi campus of the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) on 23 November 2022.
  • It will accelerate the design, development and deployment of cost-effective and globally-competitive Telecom solutions in the country.

 

Karnataka government:

  • The Karnataka government will set up an elephant task force in four districts to keep a check on jumbo menace.
  • The task force, headed by Deputy Conservator of Forests, will be set up in Hassan, Chikmagaluru, Mysuru and Kodagu districts.
  • It will get down to action immediately and work under the instructions of the respective Chief Conservator of Forests of the circles concerned.

 

Sonzal-2022:

  • Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Annual Youth Festival ‘Sonzal – 2022’ at the University of Kashmir in November 2022.
  • Sonzal means rainbow, which is a symbol of hope, inspiration and good fortune.
  • The best – performing youth will also get the opportunity to participate in the North Zone Youth Festival and later in the National Youth Festival.

 

KVGB:

  • Karnataka Vikas Grameena Bank (KVGB), sponsored by Canara Bank, has bagged two national awards (‘APY Big Believers’ and ‘Leadership capital’) for significant enrolment under the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) from the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA).
  • KVGB Chairman P. Gopi Krishna received the awards from PFRDA Chairman Supratim Bandopadhyay at Chennai.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Tamil Nadu Police (Reforms) Rules, 2022:

  • The Tamil Nadu government has notified the Tamil Nadu Police (Reforms) Rules, 2022. They provide for a Police Complaints Division under the administrative control of the ADGP of the Crime Branch CID.
  • The complaints are to be referred to the division for enquiry under Sections 13 and 16 of the Act by the State Police Complaints Authority and the District Police Complaints Authority.

 

International Events:

India & GCC:

  • India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) announced the launch of negotiations for a free trade agreement on 24 November 2022.
  • GCC is a union of six countries in the Gulf region – Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain.
  • In the fiscal year 2021-22, India’s exports to the GCC member countries grew by 58.26 % to about $ 44 billion as against $ 27.8 billion in 2020-21.

 

Lieutenant General Asim Munir:

  • In Pakistan, Lieutenant General Asim Munir was appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff in November 2022.
  • He will take over from outgoing General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who will retire after a six-year term. Lt.Gen.Sahir Shamshad Mirza will be appointed as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

 

GARUDA SHAKTI:

  • Indian army is participating in a bilateral joint training Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI with Indonesian Special Forces at Karawang, Indonesia.
  • The 2022 Exercise commenced on 21 November. Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI is the eighth edition of the series of bilateral exercises.
  • The exercise aims to enhance understanding, cooperation, and interoperability between the Special Forces of both armies.
