National Events:

Maj Somnath Sharma:

  • A wreath – laying ceremony by Indian Army was organised in honour of Maj Somnath Sharma, PVC ( Posthumous ) , the first Param Vir Chakra of Indian Army at Saviours of Kashmir War Memorial at Srinagar International Airport.
  • Maj Somnath Sharma of the 4th battalion, the Kumaon Regiment led ‘ D ‘ Company of his battalion at Budgam against the raiders approaching Srinagar from North on 3 November 1947.

 

GE Aerospace and Tata Advanced Systems Ltd:

  • GE Aerospace and Tata Advanced Systems Ltd have extended their long term contract worth USD 1 billion for production and supply of several commercial aircraft engine components.
  • The engine parts will be manufactured at the Tata Centre of Excellence for Aero Engines ( Tata – TCoE ). The contract was first signed in 2017. Tata – TCoE was established in 2018.

 

Ganga Utsav:

  • Union Minister for Culture, Tourism & DONER , G. Kishan Reddy inaugurated the sixth edition of Ganga Utsav 2022 in New Delhi on 4 November 2022.
  • The Ganga Utsav, is being developed as a model for River Festivals with the aim to connect people to the rivers.
  • One of its main objectives is to celebrate rivers and spread awareness on the significance of river rejuvenation across river basins in India.

 

PGI:

  • Kerala, Maharashtra and Punjab have topped the 2020-21 Performing Grade Index ( PGI ) that assesses school education at the district level. Arunachal Pradesh emerged as the least performing in the seventh slot.
  • PGI analyses the school education on 70 indicators grouped under outcomes and governance management categories. It was released by the Union education ministry on 3rd November 2022.

 

WTG:

  • Adani New Industries Ltd on 3rd Nov 2022 announced the installation of country’s largest Wind Turbine Generator ( WTG ) in Mundra , Gujarat.
  • Standing 200 metres tall, the wind turbine is taller than the world’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity ( 182 metres ).
  • It is the first machine which has been built with technology from W2E ( Wind to Energy ) of Germany.

 

Annie Abraham & Seema Dhundia:

  • Two women officers of the CRPF have been appointed as Inspectors General ( IG ) for the first time after their induction into the force began in 1987.
  • Annie Abraham has been ma IG of the Rapid Action Force ( RAF ), while Seema Dhundia has been posted as Bihar sector IG.
  • CRPF was the 1st central armed police force to induct women in combat in 1986. An IG is the head of the sector in the CRPF.

 

MEIL:

  • Hyderabad – based Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd ( MEIL ) has bagged a project to build Mongolia’s first greenfield oil refinery.
  • As part of an initiative of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the refinery will receive a line of credit from the central government.
  • The project is aimed at reducing Mongolia’s dependency on Russian oil imports. Mongolia Capital: Ulaanbaatar.

 

NIIE Trade Fair:

  • Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Professor Jagdish Mukhi inaugurated National Integrate Innovate Expand ( NIIE ) Trade Fair at Chumukedima Nagaland on 3 November 2022.
  • The theme of the expo is ‘ Innovate, Integrate, Expand’.
  • The fair is being organized by the Business Association of Nagas and supported by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME.

 

A Sethumadhavan:

  • Noted Malayalam novelist and short story writer A Sethumadhavan, popularly known as Sethu , has been selected for 2022 Ezhuthachan Puraskaram , Kerala government’s highest literary award.
  • He has been chosen for this award in recognition of his valuable contribution to Malayalam language and literature. The award carries a cash award of Rs 5 lakh and a citation.

 

Fish museum:

  • A fish museum , the first of its kind in the Northeast , would be built in Arunachal Pradesh. The existing Tarin Fish Farm ( TFF ), located at high – altitude Bulla village, would be upgraded as the Integrated Aqua Park ( IAP ) where this museum would come up.
  • It will have all fish species of the state and serve as a training centre for fisherfolks. Arunachal Pradesh CM : Pema Khandu.

 

Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo:

  • In Kerala , the 15th edition of the Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo will open Kochi on 4 November 2022.
  • Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will jointly inaugurate the three – day conference.
  • The meet will focus on the theme, ‘Azadi @ 75 — Sustainable Aatmanirbhar Urban Mobility’.

 

International Events:

Indonesia & India:

  • Indonesia on 3rd Nov 2022 handed over the Presidency of the R20 summit, the religious grouping of the G20, to India which New Delhi will host in 2023. R20 is part of a series of G20 events initiated under Indonesia’s G20 Presidency.
  • It is being held from Nov 2-3 in Bali, Indonesia to mobilize global leaders to help ensure that religion functions as an open and dynamic source of solutions.

 

”Permacrisis”:

  • Collins Dictionary has announced that its word of the year 2022 is “Permacrisis”. The word indicates an era of instability & insecurity.
  • It indicates the ongoing Ukraine War, the consequent rise in the cost of living & the political upheaval the world has witnessed in 2022.
  • Collins Dictionary is published by HarperCollins in Glasgow. Collins word of the year 2021: NFT ( Non – fungible token ).

 

Benjamin Netanyahu:

  • A coalition led by the former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has won 64 seats in the 120 – seat Israeli parliament Knesset, allowing him to return to power. His opponent, PM Yair Lapid’s coalition, won 51 seats.
  • Earlier, Netanyahu served as the prime minister of Israel from 1996 to 1999 & again from 2009 to 2021. He was ousted from power in June 2021 on charges of bribery & fraud.

 

Sports Events:

Baji Rout National Football Tournament:

  • Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on 3rd Nov 2022 inaugurated the ‘ Baji Rout National Football Tournament ‘ in Dhenkanal in Odisha.
  • The tournament, organized by Ame Odia Foundation, will be held from November 3 to November 8 in Dhenkanal, Angul and Talcher in the State.
  • It is being organized in honour of the country’s youngest freedom fighter, Martyr Baji Rout (12 years old).
