National Events:

Inspiration Day:

  • The Karnataka government has announced to celebrate , late Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar’s birthday , March 17th , as ‘ Inspiration Day ‘.
  • Puneeth Rajkumar , colloquially known as Appu , was one of the most popular actors in Kannada cinema. Previously , Puneeth Kumar was posthumously honoured with the Karnataka Ratna award.

 

” Emerging Legal Issues “:

  • Union Law and Justice Minister , Kiren Rijiju inaugurated Union of India Counsel ( West Zone ) Conference on ” Emerging Legal Issues ” in Udaipur , Rajasthan on 17 September 2022.
  • This two – day conference will provide a platform to discuss and come up with practicable solutions to various emerging legal issues in the country .This event is being organized by the Additional Solicitor Generals of Rajasthan.

 

Gujarat government:

  • Gujarat government has decided to implement the remaining allowances of 7th pay commission for its employees.
  • The government has also decided to increase the medical allowance from the current 300 rupees to 1000 Rupees.

 

SIAM:

  • Auto industry body Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers ( SIAM ) on 15 Sept 2022 elected Vinod Aggarwal as its new president for 2022-23. SIAM is the apex national body representing all major vehicle manufacturers in India.

 

‘ INSPIRE ‘ awards:

  • Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on 16 Sept 2022 presented ‘ INSPIRE ‘ awards to 60 Start – Ups and financial support to over 53,000 students. The award is instituted by the Department of Science and Technology.
  • Under this scheme , during the year 2020-21 , a total of 6.53 Lakh ideas and innovations were received from all States and UT’s of the country.

 

Vaccine candidate for tuberculosis:

  • Researchers from the IISc have designed a new method to deliver a vaccine candidate for tuberculosis ( TB ). They have used spherical vesicles secreted by bacteria coated on gold nanoparticles which can then be delivered to immune cells.
  • The only effective vaccine currently in use against TB is the BCG vaccine which works well in children but it is not as effective at protecting adults.

 

USAID & UNICEF:

  • The US Agency for International Development ( USAID ) and UNICEF on 16 Sept 2022 launched the Doordarshan and YouTube series titled ‘ Door Se Namaste ‘ in New Delhi.
  • It is a fictional Hindi series developed in an educational format highlighting the challenges of a post – pandemic world and promoting the adoption of healthy behaviour and practices . USAID HQ : Washington. UNICEF HQ : New York.

 

Lithium cell:

  • MoS for Electronics & Information Technology , Rajeev Chandrasekhar on 16 Sept 2022 launched the pre – production run of India’s first lithium cell manufacturing facility at Tirupati , Andhra Pradesh.
  • This state – of – the – art facility has been set up by Chennai – based Munoth Industries Ltd with an outlay of Rs165 crores. Currently , India imports lithium – ion cells primarily from China & South Korea.

 

Knight of the legion honour:

  • Prominent Indian scientist & Vice Chairperson of Piramal Group Swati Piramal has been conferred with the France’s top civilian honour ‘ Knight of the Legion of Honour ‘.
  • She has been conferred for her contributions in the fields of business , science , & towards strengthening Indo – French ties. In 2006 , she was also awarded the Knight of the Order of Merit , France’s 2nd highest civilian honour.

 

Al – powered digital voice agent:

  • ICICI Lombard has launched an Al – powered digital voice agent in collaboration with Skit.ai , an Al – based voice automation platform.
  • This voice agent will help in simplifying the complex process of seeking claim status while focusing on customer experience.
  • It will also reduce the average call handling time & improve call containment rates. ICICI Lombard HQ : Mumbai.

 

IICA & IIM:

  • The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs ( IICA ) and Indian Institute of Management ( IIM ) Jammu , signed an MoU on 16 September 2022.
  • Objective : to collaborate on offering long – term joint courses and award degrees on issues of business management & corporate affairs.
  • IICA is a central civil service training institute & it comes under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs , Govt of India . Founded : 2012.

 

IISc & Shell India:

  • Indian Institute of Science ( IISc ) and Shell India have entered into a partnership to promote research and development in the areas of energy and the environment. The partnership will focus on reducing Green House Gas emissions and promoting decarbonisation.
  • This partnership also envisages developing India – focused solutions to meet the energy transition needs outlined by the Government of India.

 

Telangana Government:

  • The Telangana government has announced naming the newly – built state secretariat complex after Dr BR Ambedkar. The seven – storey Secretariat building with a built – up area of seven lakh square feet is being built at a cost of Rs 650 crore.

 

Maharaja Hari Singh:

  • Jammu and Kashmir Govt has decided to declare Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary , September 23 as a public holiday. The announcement to his effort was made by J & K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on 16 Sept 2022.
  • Maharaja Hari Singh was the last ruling Maharaja of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. He signed the instrument of accession with India on October 26 , 1947.

 

International Events:

World Patient Safety Day : 17 September:

  • World Patient Safety Day is observed on September 17 every year across the world. Aim : to raise global awareness about patient safety and to encourage individuals to demonstrate their commitment to making healthcare safer.
  • This day was established in 2019 by the 72nd World Health Assembly. World Health Assembly is the decision – making body of WHO. 2022 theme : ” Medication without Harm “.
