National Events:

Tiong Kian Boom:

  • Tiong Kian Boom , an expert from International Commission on Monuments and Sites ( ICOMOS ) , visited Hoysaleshwara temple in Halebeedu , Karnataka on September 14 , 2022.
  • The Hoysala structure is an aspirant for the tag of World Heritage Site , which is given by UNESCO. It is a 12th – century Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

 

ST Category:

  • The Union Cabinet has cleared the proposal to notify several tribal communities under the Scheduled Tribes ( ST ) category in Chhattisgarh , Himachal Pradesh , Karnataka , Tamil Nadu , & Uttar Pradesh.
  • These include the Hatti community living in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmour area , the Narikuravars from Tamil Nadu & the Betta – Kuruba community from Karnataka.

 

WPI:

  • Wholesale price – based inflation ( WPI ) eased to 12.41 per cent in August 2022 as compared to 13.93 per cent in July 2022.
  • According to the Commerce and Industry Ministry data released on 14 Sept 2022 , WPI inflation fell on easing prices of Manufactured products.
  • The Wholesale inflation was at a record high of 15.88 per cent in May 2022 and stood at 11.64 per cent in August 2021.

 

Special Campaign 2.0:

  • Minister of State for Personnel , Pension and Public Grievances Dr. Jitendra Singh launched Swachhata Portal for the Special Campaign 2.0 on 14 September 2022. The campaign will begin on 2nd October 2022.
  • On the occasion , the minister also released the Special Campaign July Progress Report , and the CPGRAMS Monthly Progress Report for August , 2022.

 

Engineer’s Day : 15 September:

  • National Engineer’s Day is observed every year on September 15. The day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of engineer statesman Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya , a diwan of the former Mysore kingdom.
  • The construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara Dam in Mysore , the installation of the Deccan Plateau irrigation system , are some of Sir M Visvesvaraya’s most well – known accomplishments.

 

Vihaan.Al:

  • Tata group – owned Air India has announced that it will be rebranded as Vihaan. It has also unveiled a comprehension transformation plan named Vihaan.Al.
  • Over the next 5 years , Air India will also strive to increase its market share to at least 30 % in the domestic market while significantly growing the international routes.

 

Two – day Conference:

  • A two – day Conference on ” Smart Village Panchayat : Empowering Rural Communities ; Leaving No One Behind ” is being organized in Lucknow from 15 September 2022.
  • The e – Learning Module prepared by Panchayati Raj Institute of Training ( PRIT ) , Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with partner organization GIZ was launched. Training Module on Localization of Sustainable Development Goals was also released.

 

NTPC & REC:

  • Sports Ministry on 14 Sept 2022 signed MoUs with NTPC & Rural Electrification Corporation ( REC ) for the development of sports in India. Under the MoU , both the PSUs have pledged Rs 215 crore to the National Sports Development Fund ( NSDF ).
  • While NTPC will provide Rs 115 crore for the development of Archery , REC will give Rs 100 crore towards women’s hockey & boxing . NSDF established : 1998.

 

Best zoo in the country:

  • The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park of Darjeeling has been recognised as the best zoo in the country. Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai came second , followed by the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysore , Karnataka.
  • The ranking list was released by the Central Zoo Authority ( CZA ) in September 2022. The Darjeeling zoo was established on August 14 , 1958.

 

ECI:

  • The Election Commission of India ( ECI ) on 14 Sept ’22 released a new digital publication ‘ BLO e – Patrika ‘ at an event in New Delhi. Objective : to establish direct communication with Booth Level Officer ( BLO ).
  • This event was a first – of – its – kind direct interaction by the Commission with the BLOs across the country. ECI Founded : 25 January 1950.

 

Sikkim government:

  • The Sikkim government on 14 Sept 2022 hiked the minimum wage for unskilled workers by 67 per cent to Rs 500. The daily wage for unskilled workers was increased from Rs 300 to Rs 500 with retrospective effect from July 11 , 2022.
  • Highly – skilled workers will now get Rs 565 per day instead of Rs 365 . Sikkim Capital : Gangtok .Literacy : 82.6 % ( 13th ).Districts : 6.

 

Sports Policy 2022:

  • Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren launched Jharkhand Sports Policy 2022 in Ranchi on 13 September 2022. This policy is aimed at reducing bottlenecks from the path of sportspersons in excelling at national and international events.
  • The sports policy , made for a period of five years , is the second such policy framework in Jharkhand . The last such policy was made in 2007.

 

Legislation to make Kannada ” mandatory “:

  • Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s government is bringing in a legislation to make Kannada ” mandatory ” in the state.’ Kannada Language Comprehensive Development Bill ‘ is aimed at further strengthening the efforts to give primacy to Kannada.
  • For the first time a legal statute is being given in the state , making Kannada mandatory , aimed at protecting the language and its users.

 

” Third gender ” reservations:

  • Karnataka government on 13 Sept 2022 announced ” third gender ” reservations in police recruitment , becoming the first state to do so. Recruitment will be held for 3,484 posts , of which 79 are reserved for the ‘ third gender ‘.
  • Apart from this , 420 posts have also been reserved for Kalyana Karnataka candidates. Kalyana Karnataka is a 7 – district swathe that was part of the erstwhile Nizam territory.

 

International Events:

International Day of Democracy : 15 September:

  • Every year on 15 September, the International Day of Democracy is celebrated across the world. The day focuses on the importance of the participation of all members of society for the proper functioning of a democracy.
  • This day was established through a resolution passed by the UN General Assembly in 2007 & was first observed in 2008.

 

India and Madagascar:

  • India and Madagascar signed an MoU to train diplomats in September 2022. The MoU was signed between the Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service ( SSIFS ) & the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Madagascar.
  • SSIFS is a training institute where Indian Foreign Service officers are trained . The institute was renamed as Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service on 14 February 2020.

 

Sports Events:

FIFA U – 17 Women’s World Cup:

  • Union Cabinet on 14 Sept 2022 approved the signing of guarantees for hosting FIFA Under – 17 Womens ‘ Football World Cup in India . India will host the FIFA U – 17 Women’s World Cup in Navi Mumbai , Goa & Bhubaneswar from 11th to 30th October 2022.
  • Teams from 16 countries will participate in the event. In 2017 , India successfully hosted the FIFA U – 17 Men’s World Cup India – 2017 at 6 different venues.
