National Events:

Health Expenditure:

  • The government’s share in total Health Expenditure has increased from 28.6 % in 2013-14 to 40.6 % in 2018-19.
  • As per National Health Accounts estimates for India for 2018-19 released by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare , the per capita government spending on healthcare has increased by 74 % since 2013-14. As per the report , India’s total health expenditure for 2018-19 was at Rs 5.9 lakh.

 

Prakash Chand:

  • Senior diplomat Prakash Chand has been appointed the next ambassador of India to Eritrea. Previously , Chand was the Consul General of India in Indonesia’s Bali since 2019.
  • Chand has also served as First Secretary ( Consular ) in Philippines from 2010 to 2014. Eritrea is a country in the Horn of Africa region of Eastern Africa , with its capital and largest city at Asmara.

 

Free health services:

  • Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has announced that general public in Mumbai will get free health services from October 2 , 2022. They will get this through Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray clinics and polyclinics.
  • There will be 227 free healthcare centres in Mumbai and 50 centres will be launched in the first phase. Around 139 medical tests will be done free of cost at these centres.

 

FCRI:

  • Telangana has decided to expand Forest College and Research Institute ( FCRI ) in Hyderabad into a full – fledged university.
  • The Telangana legislative assembly has approved the University of Forestry ( UOF ) Act 2022. The ‘ University of Forestry ( UOF ) will be the first of its kind in the country. Only Russia and China have forest universities in the world , globally.

 

Monthly stipend to sportspersons:

  • Punjab Sports Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer has launched a scholarship scheme to give monthly stipend to sportspersons who bag first three positions in national competitions.
  • A new sports policy will also be launched by the state government , under which sportspersons winning medals in international events will be recruited directly by creating a special cadre under the Sports Department.

 

Food Security Atlas:

  • Jharkhand became the third state after Bihar and Odisha in eastern India to have Food Security Atlas for its rural areas. This Atlas is an effort towards mapping the food security situation in the state.
  • It has been prepared by the Delhi – based Institute for Human Development ( IHD ) as part of the research initiative of the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research , Mumbai.

 

ART:

  • Assam government on 12 Sept 2022 launched Anti – Retroviral Therapy ( ART ) Dispensation Centres at 6 central jails across the state.
  • These centres were opened at Guwahati , Silchar , Dibrugarh , Jorhat , Tezpur & Nagaon central jails.
  • Assam is the 5th state in the country to have ART Dispensation Centres in jails. These ART Dispensation Centres have been opened to treat HIV – infected inmates.

 

Semiconductor and display FAB manufacturing unit:

  • Gujarat Government signed an MoU with Indian conglomerate Vedanta & electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn on 13 September. This MoU has been signed to set up a semiconductor and display FAB manufacturing unit in the state.
  • As per the MoU , both companies would invest Rs 1,54,000 crore to set up the facility in the state , which would create one lakh job opportunities in the state.

 

Hindi Diwas : 14 September:

  • Hindi Diwas is celebrated across the country on September 14 every year. It is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of Hindi as one of the official languages of the country.
  • The Constituent Assembly of India adopted Hindi as one of the official languages of India on 14 September 1949. On the other hand , World Hindi Day is observed on 10 January every year.

 

Attorney General of India:

  • Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi is set to become Attorney General of India for a second time from 1 October 2022. The tenure of the incumbent Attorney General K.K. Venugopal , is coming to a close on 30 September 2022.
  • Rohatgi had served as the 14th Attorney General of India for 3 years from 2014 to 2017. The Attorney General of India acts as the chief legal advisor of the Indian government.

 

List of states in attracting industrial investments:

  • Andhra Pradesh has topped the list of states in attracting industrial investments in the first seven months of 2022 , according to a report by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade.
  • Andhra Pradesh & Odisha combined have bagged 45 % of the total investment. Overall , India got industrial investment worth Rs 1,71,285 crore by the end of July 2022.

 

’Kakadu’:

  • INS Satpura and P81 Maritime Patrol Aircraft reached Darwin in Australia on 12 Sep 22 to participate in the Multinational Naval Exercise ‘ Kakadu’. This exercise is being hosted by the Royal Australian Navy.
  • The 2 – week – long Exercise , both in harbour & sea , involves ships & maritime aircraft from 14 Navies. Indian Air Force also participated in Exercise ‘ Pitch Black ‘ in Australia in August 2022.

 

International Year of Millets:

  • Government has launched several initiatives as a run – up to the International Year of Millets 2023 to create awareness about millets.A contest for designing a comic story , with the theme ‘ India’s Wealth , Millets for Health ‘ has been launched along with the Millet Startup Innovation Challenge in Sept 2022 by the government.
  • UNGA had declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets in March 2021.

 

Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ) through Panchayati Raj Institutions:

  • The Ministry of Panchayati Raj ( MOPR ) , & the Institute of Rural Management Anand ( IRMA ) , Gujarat will sign an agreement on 14 Sept 2022 to strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions across the country.
  • This MoU will establish a framework under which MOPR & IRMA will collaborate for localization of Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ) through Panchayati Raj Institutions.

 

International Events:

G20:

  • As part of the G – 20 tradition of inviting some Guest Countries , India has decided to invite Bangladesh as a Guest Country to take part in the G – 20 meeting during its Presidency.
  • Apart from Bangladesh , India will also invite Egypt , Mauritius , Netherlands , Nigeria , Oman , Singapore , Spain & UAE as Guest Countries. India will assume the Presidency of G – 20 for one year from Dec 2022 to November 2023.
