National Events:

Jagadeesh Kumar:

University Grants Commission , UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar has been appointed as the interim head of the All India Council For Technical Education , AICTE.
The current chairperson Anil Sahasrabudhe retired on September 1 , 2022. Jagadesh Kumar was appointed as UGC Chairman on February 4 , 2022.
He earlier held the post of Vice Chancellor of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Smart Solutions Challenge & Inclusive Cities Awards 2022:

The Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri presented Smart Solutions Challenge & Inclusive Cities Awards 2022 on 1 September 2022.
These awards are an initiative of the National Institute of Urban Affairs ( NIUA ) and UN to address city – level accessibility and inclusion challenges faced by persons with disabilities ( PwD ) , women and girls , and the elderly.

IndusInd Bank & ADB:

IndusInd Bank signed a strategic partnership with Asian Development Bank ( ADB ) to support and promote supply chain finance solutions in India.
The Bank entered into a partial guarantee programme with ADB with an initial outlay of $ 70 million ( Rs 560 crore ) , for promoting supply chain finance solutions in India.

INS Vikrant:

PM Modi commissioned the first indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on 2 September 2022 at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi . He also unveiled the new Naval Ensign ( Nishaan ).
Naval Ensigns are flags that naval ships or formations bear to denote nationality. The current Indian Naval Ensign consists of a St. George’s Cross – a red cross with white background.

SMC & NDDB:

Suzuki Motor Corporation ( SMC ) has signed an MoU with the National Dairy Development Board ( NDDB ). It will start a biogas demonstration project to accelerate carbon neutrality in India.
In a bid to establish a joint venture , Suzuki and NDDB will undertake joint studies to evaluate the business model for future commercialization of biogas and its potential for widespread use.

Cashback SBI Card:

SBI Card on announced the launch of ‘ cashback SBI Card ‘ that enables cardholders to earn 5 % cashback on all online spending without any merchant restrictions. Consumers can apply for the card on the digital application platform ‘ SBI Card SPRINT ‘.
SBI Card was launched in October 1998 by State Bank of India . SBI Card MD & CEO : Rama Mohan Rao Amara. Headquarters : Gurugram.

Rashtriya Poshan Maah:

Ministry of Women and Child Development is celebrating the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 across the nation from 1st till 30th September 2022.
Every year the Poshan Maah is celebrated under POSHAN Abhiyaan ( PM’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment ) , which was launched in 2018 in Rajasthan.

Yamuna kumar Chaubey:

Yamuna Kumar Chaubey took over as Chairman and Managing Director ( CMD ) of NHPC on 1 September 2022.
He succeeded Abhay Kumar Singh , who superannuated on 31 August. NHPC Founded : 1975. HQ : Faridabad , Haryana.

Visvesvaraya:

The Federation of Indian Engineers announced that ‘Engineer’s Day’ will be celebrated on September 15, the birth anniversary of renowned engineer and Bharat Ratna awardee Visvesvaraya.

International Events:

POSCO & Greenko:

Global steelmaker POSCO has signed an MoU with ZeroC , a subsidiary of renewable energy company Greenko to make green hydrogen in India.
This partnership will also explore opportunities in the production of renewable energy in India.
Green hydrogen refers to hydrogen generated by renewable energy or from low – carbon power . Greenko HQ : Hyderabad.Founded : 2004.

World Coconut Day : 2 September:

World Coconut Day is celebrated on September 2 every year in major coconut – producing countries , including India.
It was celebrated for the first time on 2 September 2009 by the Asian & Pacific Coconut Community ( APCC ). 2022 theme : ” Cultivate coconut for a happy life and future.

’Vostok’:

A multilateral strategic and command military exercise ‘ Vostok ‘ commenced on 1 September 2022 in Russia. This exercise will continue till 7th September.
The Indian Army contingent comprising of troops from Gorkha Rifles joined the exercise in Russia in which a number of countries , including China , are participating. It is aimed at coordination amongst participating military contingent.

AIFF:

The All India Football Federation ( AIFF ) has got a former player as its first president in its 85 – year history with Kalyan Chaubey beating Bhaichung Bhutia in the election. Chaubey is a former goalkeeper with Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.
