National Events:

India 100:

  • Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister , EAC – PM has released the Competitiveness Roadmap for India 100 in New Delhi . The roadmap guide the way for India to become a higher – income country by 2047.
  • It is a collaborative endeavour between EAC – PM , the Institute for Competitiveness headed by Dr Amit Kapoor and Professor Michael E. Porter and Dr Christian Ketels from Harvard Business School.

 

National Small Industry Day : 30 August:

  • The National Small Industry Day is observed in India on August 30 every year. The day recognises the contribution of small industries to the country’s growth.
  • The central government had introduced an extensive policy package for the small – scale industry on 30 August 2000 , and since then National Small Industry Day is observed every year. On the other hand , World MSME Day is observed on 27 June.

 

T-AIM:

  • The Telangana Al Mission ( T – AIM ) has revealed that four of its startups have been selected by MeitY ( Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology ) to represent India at the G20 Digital Innovation Network ( DIN ).
  • T – AIM is an initiative of the state Government supported by NASSCOM .The four startups – Arficus , Edubuk , Eunimart , and MayaMD are supported by Revv Up programme.

 

Accidental Deaths & Suicides:

  • The National Crime Records Bureau ( NCRB ) has released Accidental Deaths & Suicides in India 2021 report.
  • It stated that there were 1,55,622 deaths in road accidents in India in 2021 , with Uttar Pradesh leading with 21,792 fatalities , followed by Tamil Nadu , Maharashtra , and MP. As per NCR data for 2019-2021 period , Delhi is the most unsafe metropolitan city with 13.982 crimes.

 

” One Herb , One Standard “:

  • An MoU has been signed between Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy ( Ministry of Ayush ) and Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission ( Ministry of Health & Family Welfare ).
  • It is for Inter – Ministerial cooperation for promotion and facilitation of ” One Herb , One Standard “. This MoU will further facilitate collaboration in the area of standardization of traditional medicine.

 

Reserve bank:

  • RBI will be auctioning four dated government securities worth 33,000 crore on September 2. Both competitive and non – competitive bids for the auction will be submitted in electronic format on RBI’s core banking solution.
  • RBI commenced its operations on 1 April 1935 in accordance with the Reserve Bank of India Act , 1934 . RBI was nationalised on 1 January 1949 . HQ : Mumbai.

 

Fines:

  • SEBI levied fines on Aadhaar Ventures India Ltd ( AVIL ) and its directors for violating insider trading rules and listing conditions . The total fines levied on AVIL is 25 lakh. SEBI is the regulatory body for securities and commodity market in India.
  • It was established on 12 April 1988 as an executive body and was given statutory powers on 30 January 1992 through the SEBI Act , 1992.

 

Indigo & WEF:

  • India’s largest carrier IndiGo on 29 August 2022 joined a sustainable initiative spearheaded by the World Economic Forum ( WEF ).
  • With this , IndiGo has become a signatory to the Clean Skies for Tomorrow , India Coalition campaign. Clean Skies for Tomorrow , launched in 2019 , provides a crucial mechanism for the aviation industry to achieve carbon – neutral flying by 2050 . WEF HQ : Switzerland.

 

NMDFC & ICICI Bank:

  • National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation ( NMDFC ) has signed an agreement with ICICI Bank for the development of financial accounting software and mobile application.
  • The Industrial Credit and Investment Corporation of India ( ICICI ) was established on 5 January 1955. ICICI Bank was established by ICICI , as a wholly owned subsidiary in 1994. CEO : Sandeep Bakhshi , HQ : Vadodara.

 

UGC:

  • The University Grants Commission ( UGC ) is all set to launch its new centralised portal called ‘ e – Samadhan ‘ in the first week of September 2022.
  • It is being launched to monitor and resolve all grievances of students and staff members in universities . Nearly 38 million students are expected to be benefitted from the e – Samadhan portal.

 

Plastic – free Andhra Pradesh:

  • Andhra Pradesh govt has signed an MoU with the U.S. – based ” Parley for the Oceans ” on plastic – waste management in the state.
  • Aim of the MoU : to develop and implement improved sanitation and waste management system in the state.
  • This agreement has been signed as part of the state government’s initiative of making a ‘ Plastic – free Andhra Pradesh ‘ by 2027.

 

JK Ecop:

  • The Jammu & Kashmir Police has launched an online Mobile application ” JK Ecop “. The App enables the common citizens to use a host of services ranging from registering a complaint to downloading a copy of FIR.
  • A citizen can also make requests like obtaining a character certificate , employee verification , or tenant verification through this App.

 

CM Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana:

  • Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami on the occasion of National Sports Day ( 29 August ¹22 ) launched the ” CM Udyman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana ‘.
  • Under this scheme , a sports scholarship of Rs1500 per month will be given to the emerging players of the state between the age group of 8 to 14 years.
  • A total of 3900 players will be given scholarship every year , which will include 1950 boys & 1950 girls.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Smartboxer:

  • Indian Institute of Technology ( IT ) Madras has partnered with Karnataka based Inspire Institute of Sports ( IIS ) to develop a boxing analytics platform ‘Smartboxer’.
  • Smartboxer will use wearable sensors & video cameras to provide assessments of boxers on the four key traits for scoring in boxing.
  • It is one among the many initiatives of IIT Madras aimed at winning more medals in the Olympics.

 

International Events:

International Whale Shark Day : 30 August:

  • International Whale Shark Day is observed on 30 August every year .It is celebrated to spread awareness about the importance of whale sharks and their conservation. The day was started in 2008 , at the International Whale Shark Conference in Isla Holbox.
  • On the occasion , Wildlife Trust of India ( WTI ) is launching ‘ save the whale shark campaign ‘ in Karnataka , Kerala , and Lakshadweep.

 

UK’s biggest warship:

  • The Royal Navy’s newest and UK’s biggest warship broke down on 28 August 2022 . HMS Prince of Wales is also the newest aircraft carrier in the UK , costing £ 3 billion ( $ 3.5 bn ) and weighing a stunning 65,000 tonnes.
  • This warship was to set sail across the Atlantic to practice training experiences for the US Navy. The warship has been assigned the role of NATO’s command ship since January 2022.

 

International Day against Nuclear Tests : 29 August:

  • With an aim to bring awareness regarding the harmful effects of testing nuclear weapons , every year , 29 August is observed as the International Day against Nuclear Tests.
  • Established on 2 December 2009 , this day was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in its 64th session.
  • The first nuclear test ‘ Trinity ‘ was conducted on July 16 , 1945 , by the US Army in a desert in New Mexico.

 

Vostok 2022:

  • Russia has informed that more than 50 thousand soldiers from countries including India and China are going to participate in the ‘Vostok 2022’ combat exercise.
  • It has been announced that the Vostok 2022 combat exercise will be held from September 1 to 7 at 7 training grounds of the Eastern Military District, Sea of Okhotsk and Sea of Japan.

 

Sports Events:

Neeraj Chopra:

  • Olympic Gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has gifted his historic Tokyo Olympics gold medal winning javelin to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.
  • The museum has a rich collection of 120 years , which includes the rifle of Abhinav Bindra , who became the first Indian to win an individual Olympic gold at Beijing 2008.
  • The museum is managed by the International Olympic Committee’s Heritage team.
