National Events:

Western Railway:

  • The Western Railway’s ( WR ) longest skywalk from the Khar Road railway station to the nearby Bandra Terminus has been opened for the passengers to reach the platforms to board trains easily .
  • The skywalk spans 314 meters long and is 4.4 meters wide . The construction of the skywalk was carried out at a cost of around Rs 14 crore .

 

MyGov Gujarat:

  • MyGov Gujarat , the 18th MyGov state instance , was launched on 6 July 2022 . MyGov , the world’s largest citizen engagement platform , was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 26th July 2014 .
  • MyGov has evolved into a platform that allows citizens to contribute ideas and suggestions and make participative governance a reality .

 

Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Award:

  • Union Minister of State Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh has announced the setting up of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Memorial Award in public administration .It will be given in the field of academic excellence .
  • It will be set up in memory of the first President of India who had also laid the foundation stone of the Indian Institute of Public Administration building complex in Delhi .

 

Delhi Shopping tival:

  • Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced a 30 – day Delhi Shopping tival which will organised from January 28 to February 26 ( in 2023 ) .This will be the biggest shopping festival in India .
  • It will boost the city’s economy and help the local businessmen , traders and vendors . It will also create huge job opportunities .

 

Alstom:

  • French mobility company Alstom has won an order worth Rs 3,200 crore to supply metro trains and various systems for Bhopal and Indore metro rail projects .
  • The order has been awarded by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited ( MPMRCL ) to deliver 156 Movia metro cars with 15 years of comprehensive maintenance for the Bhopal and Indore metro projects.

 

Salary , Allowances and Pension Amendment Bills 2022:

  • The Delhi Assembly has passed the Salary , Allowances and Pension Amendment Bills 2022 on the first day of its two – day Special Session , in Juy 2022 .
  • The bill intends to increase the salaries and allowances and pension of Ministers , members of legislative assembly , Chief Whip , Speaker and Deputy Speaker and leader of opposition from 54 thousand rupees to around 90,000 rupees .

 

G20:

  • External Affairs Minister Dr S. Jaishankar will visit Bali in Indonesia on the 7th and 8th of July 2022 to participate in G20 Foreign Ministers ‘ meeting .
  • During his visit , Dr Jaishankar will hold several bilateral meetings with his counterparts from other G20 member states . India will also convene the G20 leaders ‘ summit in J & K in 2023 for the first time .

 

RIMPAC-22:

  • Indian Navy’s indigenous Frigate INS Satpura & P8l aircraft are taking part in the 28th edition of the biennial Rim of Pacific ( RIMPAC – 22 ) , the world’s largest international maritime exercise .
  • They are taking part in the harbour phase of the exercise at Pearl Harbour in the US . INS Satpura reached Hawaii on 27 June 2022 while P8l aircraft arrived on 02 Jul ’22 to take part in the exercise .

 

Airwards:

  • The Delhi – based IG Drones has been felicitated with the 2022 ” Best Drone Organization – Start – up Category ” by Airwards .It has been selected for the award for its approach of helping local communities & giving access to technology to various stakeholders during natural disasters and calamities .
  • Airwards is the 1st panoptic global awards programme dedicated to the positive use of drones .

 

IOA & Adani Sportsline:

  • Adani Sportsline , the sports arm of the Adani Group , has inked a long – term principal sponsorship deal with the Indian Olympic Association ( IOA ) .
  • Under this agreement , It will be the official partner of the Indian contingent during the upcoming Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022 , the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 , & the Paris Olympic Games 2024 .

Cyber VaultEdge:

  • SBI General Insurance has launched the Cyber VaultEdge insurance plan . It is a comprehensive cyber insurance cover for individuals that provides protection against financial losses arising from cyber risks and attacks .
  • It covers unauthorised e – transactions , loss of wages resulting from identity theft and instances impacting online reputation including social media trolling and bullying .

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Music composer Ilayaraja:

  • Music composer Ilayaraja has been selected as a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.
  • Prime Minister Modi has announced this. Similarly, athlete PT Usha has also been appointed as Rajya Sabha MP.

 

International Events:

NATO:

  • Member states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization ( NATO ) have signed off on the accession protocols for Finland and Sweden .
  • The next step will be the approval of the two countries ‘ memberships in the legislative institutions of each member state . The 30 – member NATO group seeks to promote collective security among its members .

 

Large Hadron Collider ( LHC ):

  • Scientists working with the Large Hadron Collider ( LHC ) have discovered three subatomic particles never seen before .
  • The 27 kilometre – long ( 16.8 mile ) LHC at CERN(European Organization for Nuclear Research, on the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland) is the machine that found the Higgs boson particle .
  • The particle , along with its linked energy field is thought to be vital to the formation of the universe after the Big Bang 13.7 billion years ago .

 

World Zoonoses Day : 6 July:

  • World Zoonoses Day is observed every year on July 6 to commemorate the first vaccination administered against a zoonotic disease like Ebola , Avian influenza , and West Nile virus . Zoonoses is an infectious disease that spread from animals to humans .
  • The first vaccination against a zoonotic disease was successfully administered on July 6 , 1885 , by a French biologist , Louis Pasteur .

 

Fields Medal:

  • 4 mathematicians , including Ukrainian Maryna Viazovska , were awarded the prestigious Fields Medal for the year 2022 on 5 July 2022 in Finland .The other 3 winners are Hugo Duminil – Copin , June Huh & James Maynard .
  • Viazovska is only the second female Fields Medalist , after the Iranian Maryam Mirzakhani in 2014 . Fields Medal is awarded every four years to mathematicians under the age of 40 .

 

Sports Events:

NZC:

  • New Zealand Cricket ( NZC ) on 5 July 2022 announced a ground – breaking agreement , which will see men & women players getting paid the same match fees .
  • It is a 5 – year agreement between NZC and the New Zealand Cricket Players Association ( NZCPA ) and it will start on 1 August 2022 .
  • This is the first time that the professional environments of men and women have been combined in a single agreement .
