National Events:

‘ Way Finding Application’:

  • Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for the signing of an agreement between India and the United Nations on a ‘ Way Finding Application’.
  • It is a GPS – based app which will be used for navigational purposes in the Palais des Nations , UN Office at Geneva .
  • The app has been developed by the Centre for Development of Telematics ( C – DoT ) .United Nations founded – 1945.

 

Assam government & NLC India Ltd:

  • Assam government has partnered with NLC India Ltd. to produce one GW plus solar power with an investment of Rs 5000 Crore .
  • The government will sign MoU with NLC India , a Navratna enterprise , to set up a joint venture company for generating solar power . This is the first such initiative among PSUs in the energy sector .

’Green Loan’:

  • Adani Transmission’s $ 700 million revolving facility has been tagged as a ‘ green loan ‘ by Sustainalytics .
  • This assures the green loan framework for the revolving facility . Sustainalytics had issued the independent SPO(Second Party Opnion) on the alignment of the reviewed framework with the current market standards .
  • The projects associated with it are being implemented in the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra .

 

’Kranti Gatha’:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘ Kranti Gatha ‘ on 14 June 2022 . It is a newly created Gallery of Indian Revolutionaries inside the underground British – era bunker at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai .
  • The bunker was discovered below Raj Bhavan in 2016 . He also inaugurated the newly reconstructed ‘ Jal Bhushan ‘ , the residence and office of the Governor of Maharashtra .

 

SWCS:

  • The Ministry of Coal has launched Project Information and Management Module of Single Window Clearance System ( SWCS ) on 14 June 2022 .
  • It will create a platform to obtain various clearances for operationalization of coal mines in the country .
  • Through this , a project proponent can apply for requisite clearances with a single registration interface .

 

ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers:

  • India will host two – day Special ASEAN – India Foreign Ministers ‘ meeting starting 16 June 2022 . This will be the first meeting hosted by India in New Delhi . It will be accompanied by 12th Edition of Delhi Dialogue .
  • The theme of the Delhi Dialogue is ‘ Building Bridges in the Indo – Pacific’. The Ministerial Session will be attended by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar .

 

Dholera greenfield airport:

  • Union Cabinet has approved the development of new Dholera greenfield airport in Gujarat . The Airport is planned for operationalization from 2025-26 . Over 1,305 crore rupees will be spent on first phase and it will be completed within 48 months .
  • The initial passenger traffic is estimated at three lakh passengers per annum . The passenger traffic is expected to grow upto 23 lakh in 20 years .

 

RBI:

  • The government on 14 June 2022 named Anand Mahindra , Ravindra Dholakia , Venu Srinivasan and Pankaj Patel as non – official directors on the central board of the RBI . These new appointments will be for a period of 4 years .
  • The RBI’s affairs are governed by a central board of directors . The RBI central board at present has 11 members apart from the announcements made on 14 June 2022 .

 

First – ever National Conference of Chief Secretaries:

  • PM Modi will chair the first – ever National Conference of Chief Secretaries at Dharamshala , Himachal Pradesh , on June 16 and 17 , 2022 .
  • The main aim of this conference is to strengthen the partnership between the Centre and State Governments .
  • 3 themes have been chosen for detailed discussion at the conference , 1- National Education Policy , 2- Urban Governance & 3- Crop diversification .

 

HDFC Bank & 100X.VC:

  • HDFC Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding ( MoU ) with a leading early – stage venture capital firm , 100X.VC to support start – ups .
  • Through the agreement , the bank will provide all its specialised services for start – ups , to all the firms associated with 100X.VC.
  • Additionally , HDFC Bank and 100X.VC will also collaborate on initiatives such as Master Classes for start – ups .

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

First train under the Indian Railways ‘ ‘ Bharat Gaurav ‘ scheme:

  • The first train under the Indian Railways ‘ ‘ Bharat Gaurav ‘ scheme was flagged off on 14 June 2022 . It departed from Coimbatore North railway station in Tamil Nadu for Sainagar Shirdi in Maharashtra .
  • It will be operated by a private operator South Star Rail . The theme – based ‘ Bharat Gaurav ‘ trains were announced in November 2021 with an objective to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage .

 

International Events:

Eighth Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians:

  • Egypt is hosting the Eighth Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Sharm El Sheikh on 15 June 2022 . The two – day conference was jointly organized by the House of Representatives and the Inter – Parliamentary Union ( IPU ) .
  • Nagaland’s first woman elected as Member of Parliament to Rajya Sabha S. Phangon Konyak represented India at the Conference .

 

World Wind Day : 15 June:

  • World Wind Day is a worldwide event that is held on June 15 every year around the world . It is organised by WindEurope and GWEC ( Global Wind Energy Council ) .
  • The purpose of this day is to increase public knowledge of wind energy and its uses . It is also known as Global Wind Day . The day was first observed in 2007 .

 

First Asian country to legalise cannabis:

  • Thailand has become the first Asian country to legalise cannabis for medicinal use . Now in Thailand , It is no longer a crime to grow and trade marijuana and hemp products , or use parts of the plant to treat illnesses , but the recreational use of the drug still remains illegal .
  • The change has come after Thailand’s landmark 2018 legalisation of medicinal cannabis .

 

Sports Events:

Tamil Nadu won the overall championship:

  • Tamil Nadu won the overall championship at the 61st National Athletics Championships held in Chennai. Haryana and Uttar Pradesh took the next two places respectively.
