Israel-Bhutan Ties
Recently, Israel has established diplomatic ties with Bhutan. The development comes two days after Israel and Morocco agreed to normalize ties in a deal brokered with assistance from the USA.

Historical Background:
Israel has supported Bhutanese human resource development since 1982, especially in the area of agriculture development that has benefited hundreds of Bhutanese youths. Both the countries maintained a cordial relation despite a lack of formal ties.
Israel briefly had a non-resident ambassador to Bhutan in 2010. Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation MASHAV has trained hundreds of Bhutanese youth since 2013.

What is Enigma?
Recently, the divers discovered an Enigma encryption machine used by Nazis in Baltic sea. The divers discovered the machine while searching the seabed with sonar devices for abandoned fishing nets that might harm the sea life.

Miyawaki Method of Afforestation
The Mansa unit of Punjab state Police is developing Miyawaki forests. Also, the Bengaluru Hennagara Lake is to get a new life with Miyawaki Forests.
Miyawaki forest is a method of afforestation developed in Japan. It involves the planting of saplings in a small area resulting in formation of dense forests in relatively short time periods. The method is specifically used in urban areas to increase green cover.
Some of the advantages of the method include low space requirements and lower chances of weed growth as the dense canopy prevents sunlight from reaching the ground.
About Miyawaki Afforestation Method:
It is also called Potted Seedling Method. The technique is used to create dense multi-layered forests. It is named after a Japanese botanist who developed the method. It involves planting saplings in small areas, making them fight for resources and grow ten times quicker. The Kerala Forest Department has adopted Miyawaki Afforestation Method to be used in government schools, offices and in waste lands.

Geminids Meteor Shower
The Geminids Meteor Showers are to be the strongest between December 4 and December 20. Soon after the Geminids Meteor Shower, the Ursid Meteor showers are to occur between December 17 and December 26. The Geminids are expected at about 60 meteors per hour and the Ursids at five to ten per hour.
Meteor Showers:
The meteors are pieces of rocks and ice that are ejected from comets as they orbit around the sun. The Orionid meteors occur from comet Halley. When a meteor reaches the earth, it is called meteorite. When a series of meteorites are encountered at once, it is called meteor shower.
As the meteors come in close contact to the earth, they are acted upon by its gravity. They thus enter the earth’s atmosphere. The resistance offered by the atmosphere makes the rocks extremely hot. They eventually catch fore and leave behind streaks of glowing gas that are visible as meteor showers.
According to NASA, over 30 meteor showers occur annually. The other meteor showers that occurred in November are Leonids, Northern Taurids and Southern Taurids. When the number of meteors spotted are thousand per hour, it is called meteor storm. When the number of meteors spotted are less than thousand per hour, it is called meteor shower.
About Geminid Meteor Showers:
The Geminid Meteor Showers are unique as they do not originate from a comet but from an asteroid. The Geminid Meteor originate from Phaethon asteroid. The asteroid was discovered in 1983. Phaethon is the son of Sun god Helios in Greek Mythology. The asteroid is five kilometres in diameter.
Why is Geminids best in 2020? The Geminids Shower is to be the best in 2020 as it overlaps the new moon. This means that there will be no moonlight to wash the fainter meteors.
What are Leonid Showers? It occurs from Comet Tempel-Tuttle. The comet takes 33 years to complete one revolution around the sun.
What Are The Differences Between An Asteroid, Comet, Meteoroid, Meteor and Meteorite?
Asteroid: A relatively small, inactive, rocky body orbiting the Sun.
Comet: A relatively small, at times active, object whose ices can vaporize in sunlight forming an atmosphere (coma) of dust and gas and, sometimes, a tail of dust and/or gas.
Meteoroid: A small particle from a comet or asteroid orbiting the Sun.
Meteor: The light phenomena which results when a meteoroid enters the Earth’s atmosphere and vaporizes; a shooting star.
Meteorite: A meteoroid that survives its passage through the Earth’s atmosphere and lands upon the Earth’s surface.
